The past three days I have been at a stand still on the scale with 257.8 lbs. This morning the scale said 258.8!!!! I have been trying to get all of my Protein and Water in. I get full easily and have been taking in less than 600 calories a day and am 10 days post op. Yesterday was my first day working out post surgery too. I had a good 45 minute cardio workout. I'm feeling so dejected. This bites.

Hey smmrsue,

Our bodies do a lot of weird stuff the first weeks after post-op. Don't worry about the 1 pound. It's just Water weight. If your like I was, you probably are still drinking a lot of broh and Soups and they can be high in sodium. Plus our bodies are focused on healing at this stage....so the gain isn't anything to worry about. I'm a little scale obsessed right now, so I actually woke up and had to go to the bathroon like at 4:30 am and had to step on the scale while I was there. I was very dissappointed to see I had gained 2 pound from the previous morning....I was so upset!! I had such a hard time getting back to sleep. When I got back up at 8 am the first thing did was head back to the scales... and sure enough the 2 pounds were gone.....now I know I had to pee....but not 2 punds worth!!! haha

If you are following the rules, Protein first and watching your calories...its all good and now that you are adding exercise....you are doing a wonderful job!! keep up the great work

Anyway...try to stay off the scale.....it will drive you crazy (like me) and you will be weighing yourself in the middle of the night!!haha

I am sorry your discouraged. You are doing the right things, the scale will move. Sounds like you are weighing yourself every day. In my opinion that is too often. Especially since it's discouraging you. Try to stay off the scale but once a week and record your weight. You certainly didn't gain a pound of fat, it's just natural flucuations in weight. Hope this helps!

It's not good to weigh everyday, our bodies are changing everyday, with exercise, foods, Water intake. I know i was overdoing the scale in am/evening so the following day I wouldn't eat!! Finally we decided to just put scale away, so I wasn't worried about weight and eating and I still lost 3 lbs.

I weigh myself everyday but don't allow the scale make me mad.. I go up a pd down a pd, due to retaining water.. I take a Water pill but only every other day, so some day's I'm up and some day's I'm down... As long as I am eating what I am suppose to and getting my excercise in; then I know I have done all I can and at some point the scale will show it.. Don't be discourged over 1 pd, water retension will come and go...

Not to be a downer, but don't expect weight loss daily. If you do you'll be disappointed.

I weigh myself everyday and used to get upset like you are. It is okay. Our bodies are constantly changing. I gained 3 pounds this week, but last week I lost almost 10. Now, I will begin to worry if those 3 pounds have not come off in the next couple weeks, but until them as long as you know you are doing everything you are supposed to do, do not stress over it!

Thanks everyone. I probably shouldn't weigh myself everyday, but NOT weighing myself is part of what got me into this mess. I don't expect a loss everyday, but I didn't expect a gain. You ladies are right though, with my limited calorie intake it can't be a pound of fat gain. Probably just Water. I did really up my intake. Can't wait to see it go down again!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
