I am almost 4 weeks post op. I lost 15 pounds the two weeks following surgery on the liquid diet. I've maintained that weight loss but have not lost anything else. I seem o be able to eat whatever I want but in much smaller portions. I'm still learning the difference between head hunger and real hunger and sometimes over eat. I go to my first doc appt next week but I don't know if I'll get a fill. Should I be losing more weight? I know I need to drink more Fluid but just can't seem to drink Water like I used to. I guess I just don't know where I should be 4 weeks out. Thanks.

your body is still healing. Speak to doc he may suggest a fill. Not everyone loses till first fill. After your first fill you may not feel restriction cause it takes a few.

Good luck

There are no specific rules about how and when you lose weight. Give yourself a break. Your body is still healing. It is correct that sometimes people don't loose weight until they have a good fill. It is good you are working on head hunger vs. real hunger. Keep at it!

Hmm..I dont know, I think everyone is different..but what you can do is, I guess keep an eye on how much you are eating, by weighing it and taking a look at the calories. Also my doc told me to eat Protein first, then others vegetables.Keep it to three main meals and a couple of small Snacks if needed...If you feel you are eating between the guildlines that your doc has set out, or, what others have posted here..(I love the info that I have gotten from here!) then you may be needing a fill..I was at a bit of a stand still so I changed my work outs and uped my Water and am back to losing, so happy, and now I will wait for a fill.. Its not always a short journey..but it will be worth it!

The weight loss will slow down. Just try and remember how to eat and the amounts......

3oz Protein each meal

1/2 cup green vegetable

1/4 cup Carb vegetable.

This should all equal a cup of food each meal. And don't forget your Snacks. If you are only a few weeks out you probably not at the solid food stage yet. But you can grind up your Protein and make like chicken.salad or turkey salad.

I'm about 4 weeks out as well (banded 3/19). I think that 15 pounds in 4 weeks is still good. I'm about the same. It still comes to about a 1/2 pound very day. We are still healing and aren't able to fully exercise to the best of our ability. I have sceduled my first fill for the 26th and I hope to see the scale move a little quicker but if it doesn't thats ok too. aslong as I am loosing a couple pounds a week I'm good. we will get there.

Plus I have heard that if you don't weigh as much, the weight is slower to come off.

I was banded early February and lost 10 pounds right away. After I came off the liquid diet, my weight loss slowed. As I learned quickly, the band does not provide immediate restriction. I've had 3 fills and have 6.6cc's in a 14cc band. I'm still not in the green zone, so this is more like a diet until I hit the zone. Just have honest conversations with your doctor and let him/her know when you're hungry. I've read stories on here that since people are dieting well, their doctors can want to not fill. (my pa was really upset last time I told her that I was eating more than a cup, but I told her it was the truth and I wasn't going to sabotage getting to green)

I've learned this takes longer than we may want, but I know it will be worth it! Good luck!

I did the same thing. I was banded in August of 2011 and just in the past three months have I really started to lose at a faster pace. I lost17lbs my first week after and then nothing for like three weeks. After a couple fills you will be fine and start seeing results. I am about 36 weeks out and have lost 64lbs.

Stay determined but read...read...read and read some more.... living with a band requires self education... of all the pre-op hoops they made us jump through, what to expect and how to proceed is badly lacking... as previously stated, you are healing... the real weight loss wont begin until you are healed and getting restriction... begin exercising as soon as permitted and continually increase your exercise intensity as your activities get easier... you will get there but you have to know what to reasonably expect... but most of all realize the band is only a tool and a getting lean and healthy is a long journey... do some searches on bandster hell - that is what you are currently experiencing and most all of us have been there at the outset... the topic is well covered on LBT.... stay focused, determined, and educate yourself!

I'm at 4 weeks myself and have lost 16 lbs, and like u can eat anything. I went in Thursday for my first adjustment and they were pleased with my loss. Unfortunately they didn't give me a fill cuz I pulled a muscle iny stomach where the port is so it was to swollen. I go back this Thursday to finally get it... From what I understand u should get a fill on your first appt... Good luck!!

I was just like you were in January of this year. I started my preop on December 15 and lost a total of 15 pounds. Then after surgery I had only lost 3 pounds. My first bill was January 29th, 1cc. 2 weeks later, another .5 cc and I was still not feeling the restriction I had felt right after surgery. Then anthor .5 cc at the end of March...still the yellow zone. It wasn't until Friday, April 13, i got .7 cc and now I finally feels like I'm in my Green zone. Everyone would tell me measure it by the first year not the first couple months. Hang in there I promise you'll start seeing results once you start getting closer to your Green zone.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
