Haven't Had First Fill - Seem To Be Able To Tolerate Everything!

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, I haven't had my first fill yet, and I was so careful with the foods I tried, and chewing, and little bites, and sipping, and slowly but surely, I have been trying more and more foods, and to my surprise, NOTHING disagrees with me! I can eat chicken, beef, bread, haven't tried fried foods yet, but am wondering how they'd go! I was just wondering, is this because I don't have a fill yet? I'm going Friday for my first fill, and just wondering what to expect. I feel right now as though I never even had the surgery, although I do seem to be full faster. Any thoughts?

That's not unusual. You don't have any restriction, so it's pretty much like you don't have a band. At this point you're still relying on your willpower to keep your diet on track. After your fill you'll probably notice a difference, at least at first; often it takes a few fills to feel the restriction.

ive had my 4th fill, and i can eat EVERYTHING too. the only prob i had was i had a tiny bit of mexican food and 3 sips of a margarita last week and forgot and used a straw ( A big no no, it can introduce air in to your stomach ) I threw up my whole dinner, im pretty sure it was from the straw , as ive had mexican and a margarita since being banded. so enjoy your foods just dont use a straw and be very careful of alcohol as some are more sensitive to it after being banded.

Until you get to restriction which could take a while, its like you don't have a band. Some people get there quicker than others. Like the straw thing...it doesn't bother some people. I've always used a straw, my surgeon said theres nothing wrong with it after the first few weeks.

Okay, went for my first fill today, 4 cc in an 11 cc realize band. Let's hope it helps! I didn't feel a thing when she filled it, so that was a relief! Although sitting up with the needle still in place to make sure i could drink waster was a little weird!

I'll let you all know how it goes! Good luck to ALL of us!!!

I had my surgery on 2/27/12 and was supposed to get my fill today, but getting back to Mexico (they are having transportation issues) seems to be too complicated. I got in with a clinic closer to me and now have a scheduled fill for May 9th. UUUGGGHHHH, I want the fill now LOL. Oh well, it will happen I just have to be patient and keep telling myself "I'm not hungry, I'm not hungry"

How have you been doing since your fill?

I've managed to drop a few pounds, but only because I've become religious with my water! I still feel absolutely no restriction, but I'm going to Vegas on Friday for five days (shouldn't that be interesting!) so I don't want to get filled before I go, just in case I run into some problems. I'll make an appointment for right when I get back.

We're all in this together, and we'll get through it! Bandster HELL will eventually turn into Bandster HEAVEN!!!

Sorry, I hit the wrong button. Anyway yesterday I had another fill of 1.5 cc's. So now I am at a total of 9.5 and it finally feels as it should. Tight, and limited to intake. I guess I'll see some good weight loss now!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
