Lapband Complete Failure

Recommended Posts

I thank all of you for your honesty in all your posts. I have my surg. Date for Apr. 27 and start my 2 wk per op diet on Monday. I have been knowingly over eating, and eating all the wrong foods. My thinking in this is to "get it out of my system". In all honesty, I know that it will never truly be out of my system. I really don't want to start this journey like this. I do work out 5 days a week, for 1.5 to 2 hrs. Every morning, and still haven't been losing any weight because of my eating habits. I have let my friends talk me into eating this or that, because I wont be able to eat it ever again! Now I am feeling guilty and kind of lost because I know I'm setting myself up for failure. But I do have hope, just in the simple fact that I know this, so I can change it! I can use this amazing opportunity, this tool to help me! Not just the lapband, but this forum, that's been so amazing!

I'm so sorry you are having such a tough time. There are many people in the same boat as you. Sounds like you and I were banded about the same time. My surgery was June 19, 2009 and I'm down about 100lbs. My best advice is to be aggressive with fills, I was. Also you don't need to work out hardcore, just walk. I walk 45 minutes everyday.

Sorry you've been going through so much. But..I'm really glad that you have regained your motivation!

I totally relate to your post and all the replies... I haven't been banded yet (april 18th) but this is totally my worst fear... I will say that my surgeon warned me that if I was ever told to "try harder" or "muscle through it" or "just go see the dietician" that the band probably isn't tight enough. I'm nervous to see for myself what this is all about.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
