I set my main goal, 2 b 150 lbs, & then i set minthly goals of 7~10 lbs per month. This has kept me on track & with the exception of 1 month, which I had had an unfill, I have met this goal.

Start weight :284

Pants: 24/26

Surgery date: 4-6-11

Current wt: 179

Pants : 14

Not only do I set mini goals for myself, I have given myself non food rewards for my efforts. I bought a plain charm Bracelet for myself when I decided to get banded. For every goal I achieve, I am buying myself a new charm to add. I wear it every day. All I have to do is take a glance at it, or feel the weight on my wrist to recall my goals and how far I've come. I wear it on my right hand.... My "food reaching" hand... So every time I reach for something I shouldnt I'm reminded of my successes and this helps me to stay the course.

Thanks for letting me now - yes 7-10 pounds sounds realistic - I was not sure what would be realistic - as i am so used to yo yo dieting when i could lose 5-7 pounds in week etc.

I think i started at the same size as you - tho never bought pants that big - just forced my way into a 22 and spilled over the top (nice visual??!!!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
