Hi I got the lap band last August, I got 3 fills so far, with little to no restrictions, I'm due my next fill, Thursday wk. I suffer from, depression, lupus and sjergens and have been sick for months. At the beginning I was doing great and lost 14lbs approx, I have put up the weight plus some more. I am devastated I feel I'm struggling with everything and can't get motivated. I have 4.5 so far. Someone told me that it could take up to 5 fills before you really lose weight. I know I have to excerise and keep to a good diet. Sorry for moaning I just have no one to really talk too. Thanks Jackie

Perhaps call your Dr and get in for a fill sooner so you dont get too discouraged and frustrated. I think it is all about communicating all of those thoguhts you listed above, with your Dr so they can promptly assist you. They dont want you to fail either! Give them a call and set an appointment sooner so you can get to your green zone faster. Just thoughts!

Best wishes!

I am in the same shoes. Surgery was Feb. 7, 2012. I lost 15lbs before surgery and not one pound since. My first fill was 3cc's. I did the liquid diet a few days after the fill and still no weight loss. Yesterday I had some serious pain under my breast bone; which passed after about 3hrs. It was pure agony, worse than child birth, it included chills and fever. I did a lot of Tums and a heating pad and after at least 14hours of bed I was able to walk. I believe there is a serious difference when you use Medicaid (which I used). But, to contradict that I used private insurance for my breast reduction Dr. Glasberg off Park Ave. and my breasts are disgusting, deformed and must be done again. Im still seeking the answers to this horrible weight.

Thanks for replying, thanks kbliss for your advice, unfortunately I can't call my doctor to get the full sooner, as I live in Ireland and got my band done in Belgium and they will be back over here on the 5 th April. I will chat to them when I see them, but they are doctors not a support group.

Harlem you only got your band done in feb, give yourself time, I got mine done last August.

Best wishes

Jackie

I am surprised that you were able to be banded with Lupus as it is listed as a contraindication on the lap band site. I hope that everything goes well and that you soon start losing.

I just told someone in another post that if you read some of success stories of long time banded people lots of them struggled until they had several fills and say they gained some wt until they got to the grn zone. Hang in there maybe try a support group meeting in your area? Good luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
