Stress Making Me Tight!!

Recommended Posts

Its been about a month since my last fill but I am so tight right now. I know its probably stress related. My question is do I just wait it out or go get an unfill? I can get liquids down mostly and a little bit of mushies, but not to much else without hurting.

If you have given it a month and you still can't eat solids I would say it is time to go back and get a slight unfill. If you carry on with mainly liquids you won't lose weight, you will get more stressed and you could do some damage. Go and see your Dr so you can be comfortable again and use the band the way it is meant to be used.

its only been the past week that it has been this tight. I have been under alot of stress lately, so I think it might be that.

I too have issues with stress and my band being too tight. If your stress is going to resolve soon or you can find another outlet for it then dont worry about getting an unfill. Stay diligent with Protein Shakes. If not then possibly go back to doctor.

I have found that by making me time at the gym has been fabulous. (this coming from someone that loathes the gym) its been a constructive outlet for me. For a long time I fed my stress and learning new coping skills was/is a challenge for me at least. I wanted to eat when I got anxious or stressed and I couldn't... Good luck finding a solution.

Mine gets tight when I'm stressed. Try dealing with the stress and relax. While you're tight, drink Water and Protein Shakes. All will be well. If you find you start having heartburn, reflux or can't keep water down, then go to your surgeon.

Thanks for posting about the stress connection. I didn't realize how signicantly stress can affect my band! I recently had a fill (7cc..total 6.7cc) and then got a new job about a week later along with other personal stresses and have really struggled, more than ever before (banded on 6/2/11).

I have been in the same place many times! My last time was just 3 wks ago. The best thing is to try liquids & mushies for 2 days to reset. This always helps me. I tend to have my meat pureed or very moist as i am so tight. Right now i have 2 Protein Shakes a day & a oh yeah Protein Bar to keep up my Protein levels. cheese always works well for me too. I was thinking of geting an unfill 3 wks ago but i have now gotten my cals up to 1200. How many cals a day are you getting. Good luck & any assistance let me know.

Im not even sure how many calories im getting in right now. My life has been so chaotic lately that I have had no time to keep track. I prettu much just eat when I gey hungry, but then have to get something that will go down good. Protein shake walking out the door, small wendies chili for lunch and some mushed up yams fr dinner. I tend to grab a couple of crackers in the afternoon to munch on.

So basically not getting enough calories or Protein right now. My hubby is heading home this weekend after being gone off and on for the past year, so I am hoping that will help with my stress. I leave at 7 in the morning everyday and get home around 8 in the evening almost every night. Its killing me...

My band definitely tightens up when I'm stressed. Then it causes me not to have any appetite. Also, and I don't know if this happens to anyone else who is a couple years out from surgery...my throat burns sometimes when I haven't been eating. When I do eat something..it literally burns the roof of my mouth and my throat. Sound familiar?

My family is getting concerned because I am down to about 300-500 calories a day, but I cannot force myself to eat (Did I just say that???? lol). I am hoping my stress levels go down on their own and my appetite comes back..but for right now..I'm healthy, not too tired, taking my Vitamins and losing weight again finally...(almost 6 months of no weight loss). 13lbs in 4 weeks...:)

Regardless of how tight you are try to get the Protein & cals in. I always go to protrin shakes, protein pudding, oh yeah bars & mushies. You want to feed the furnace to keep burning those fat lbs to keep weight loss. Good luck all!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
