April Bandsters!

Hey Ladies and Gents!

Having my Surgery done April 4th. Starting my Pre op diet tomorrow. They said Protein shake for Breakfast, small low fat/sugar lunch, Protein Shake for dinner until surgery. Any suggestions for the low fat/sugar lunch suggestions?

Im heading down to LA to get it done. They will arrange for me to be driven to and from there as I live in San Jose, Ca. My hubby is going to come with me for support. Hopefully they will give me enought pain meds for the ride home. Heh Woot! I'll be a Hollywood starlet by next summer haha!

So who else is getting banded in April? I could use a band-buddy for my journey!

I'm on the other side resting pretty comfortably in my hospital room. Not too much pain just taking it easy.

  • April 20th here.... was approved right away. The doctor's office called and I am scheduled for April 20th. Start pre-op diet on April 6th. So excited

I'm trying my liquid diet today. So far it hasn't been bad. I made biscuits n gravy with sausage for my fam this morning but didn't even sneak a piece of sausage! Major coup for me! But then again...I'm a night eater, so I'll see how it goes!

As for support, my fam is really supportive, but I do have that friend who seems disappointed in my decision. She thinks I could do it on my own. My response to her is if she thinks we could do it on our own, why are we in our late 30's and still so overweight? If I could do it on my own, I wouldn't feel like this and probably wouldn't have diabetes!

That's funny! Even with the lapband you are doing it on your own! It simply picks up where your willpower shuts down! You still have to make the right choices. It is still life changing! I think your friend might get a wee bit jealous but dont let it discourage you! It is a tool! If you have made this decision for the right reasons then you are a step ahead of her! Hang in there, keep your chin up and let your happiness shine through!

I had my surgery for lap bad on Monday, April 9th. . . this meant I drank liquids only for Easter and no Easter candy . . . my pre-op diet was 1500 calories ~ got through it :)

hahaha - you know you could start your shakes a couple of days early, and be "on your way" if you wanted to.

I am in Texas, going to Fort Worth Lap Band, Dr. Adam Smith.

I am from Texas too, and I am going through Dr. Adam Smith too! My surgery date is the 30th of this month!

I just have it in my head that the band with plication gives me two tools instead of one. I may be mistaken, but ..

Hi, just joined a few days ago, I start my protein shakes, multivitamins tomorrow. I am a little nervous about the diet, I am ready there is just so many tempting things and it does not help I have a teenage son who can eat the junk foods, I am just going to have to think about what I am doing to lose weight, because that is the goal here. I chose this surgery because it just seem to fit my lifestyle, I am sooo ready for it, and I have good support, my hubby is going to do the same diet, he said not the shakes but he is just so understanding about the whole thing I think this would be hard if I did not have his and my son's support on it. I hope I do well with this pre-surgery diet, I hope after a few days it will be a routine and then maybe I won't be so worried.
