Complete Unfill
I recently came down with a case of West Nile Virus with encephalomeningitis. It was causing all sorts of vomiting and nausea! Thank God my surgeon called me back and told me to go straight to the E.R. He admitted me from there. I have only had my band done on 04/29/12. I was scared and so sick! He unfilled my band completely. Thank God he did that! I just had my f/u with him this morning. He wants to wait 6 weeks before we start fills again. He wants me to regain my strength back first! I have more problems with everything else, but the band!

Green Zone In 10 Cc Bands?
I guess I'm really lucky! I have 3.25 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have to eat soft foods very slowly. I might even be a little to tight, but I'm not going to tell on myself! I can get liquids and soft foods just fine. Tightest in the morning. I'm in my "green zone" now. Can't eat a lot of things now, but that's good for me. Can't do breads at all, very little pasta, and no rice. Since those are my weaknesses, this is a great thing for me! But I do miss being able to eat as I used to. But that's what got me to being so fat in the first place. My tool is really helping!

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?
I had my surg. On 4/27/12. I had my first fill of 2 cc's on 5/27/12, and I lost 8 pounds that month. Just got another fill of 1.25 cc's and can hardly eat anything. I think I got my "sweet spot" already! It's been hard to fight the head hunger! I can feel that I'm full, but I still have to take a bite or two more, and this is soo bad, that I get pb's.

Time Off?
I took 2 weeks off, and I'm glad that I had! I had some complications after surg. And glad I had the extra time to rest! But only you know what your body can handle.

Salads
Productive Burp or regurging your food without actually vomiting.

Ate Bread & Still Have So Much Pain...
I've tried several times to eat bread. All kinds do bread, flat bread, white, whole wheat, whole grain, they are all a NO-NO for me! I'm only 2 months out, but that ended up being a really good thing for me. I was a giant bread addict. Stuck episodes don't usually last that long, I would go get it checked out!

How Do I Know If Im Too Tight?
This scares me. I just got my second fill this a.m. I'm now @ 3.25cc's in a 10cc band. I noticed when I drank the water after my fill, it went through the stoma/band much slower than before. I went & grabbed a coffee, and am drinking it much slower than usual. I'm on liquids all day than mushies tomorrow, so I'll see how it goes.

Shopping For Smaller Clothes...thrift Stores!!!
I found that in my area, there's not a big selection for me @ my current size, and also the cost @ good will rivals that of target or Walmart, at least in my area. I can't wait to get smaller so I can shop @ the reg. section of the stores! I'm only 2 months post surgery and have lost 20lbs. since. I already have smaller clothes in my closet. When I shop, I tend to buy a size smaller, buy knits or jersey, or things that I can easily alter if I need. But other than that, I love thrift stores! You never know what you're going to find!

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?
I was banded 4-27-12. I had initially lost 13 pounds, then when I was able to eat solids, gained 3. Yes it totally sucked! Since then, I have felt no real restriction. Don't feel much of anything really. The only "episodes" I have had was trying to eat a hot dog, and getting to burp it back up, then eating chicken, with the same results. It was chewed really well too! Went in for my first fill today. They gave me 2cc's in a 10 cc band. But good news, found out that I had lost the 3 lbs. that I gained & lost 1 additional pound. So, when I started I was 272, then at pre-op I was 260. Now I'm at 246. So since pre-op, I have lost 14 lbs. wish it had been more, but we are all works in progress! And now my Dr. Just cleared me for the gym, so I expect it to be getting much better! Good luck to all of us on our journey!!

First Fill
Just got my first fill this morning and only got 2 cc's put in! Wish my dr. Was a little more aggressive, but I get his trepidation!

Hey Everyone. :-). I Was Banded Yesterday May 1St. !!!
Congratulations!! Welcome to the other side. My post op diet was clear liquids for 2-3 days then protein based liquids for a week, then to mushies day 9-21. I'm going back to clear liquids today, hoping that it will calm the spasms in my esophagus down. But most doctors have different post-op diets. It's always best to check with them first before advancing your diet! I was banded 4/27/12. I was 272 when I started this process, 260 on surg. day, and 255 on Monday. And I still have some swelling, so I'm sure it will be more of a loss when it goes down.

Weight Loss Without Exercise?
I have a question. I'm pre-band(surg. Scheduled for 4/27/12). I work out every morning, but don't have an appetite. I drink plenty of water, but don't stomach eating that early. Should I drink protein before or after my workouts? Any suggestions?

No Beer??
That word was supposed to be like not "lie" haha sorry bout the confusion!
-
No Beer??
Definitely! Ask him, the worst he could do is say no.
-
No Beer??
Beer is carbonated. Almost all dr.s say NO carbonation. It's lie rule no. 1 according to my dr.

Scars ??
Zinc, like the kind you see on people's noses in the summer. Also, sunblock! New scars tend to keep discoloration from the sun or tanning. My daughter needed a plastic surgeon once and that's what he told me to do for a facial laceration. Zinc is great for the healing process.
