Walked 3 miles today!!

Recommended Posts

I am so happy. I never thought I could do it. I did it about 3.1 mph and an incline of 11 (ok, sometimes I had to drop it down to 9 but still...).

I am a little confused about something. I think I misunderstood the trainer, so I am hoping one of you can clear things up. I burned about 600 calories. Did I burn fat that was already stored or did I just basically burn 600 calories of the food I ate today?

I hope to add weight training in a few weeks.

Thanks much,

:whoo:

This is my understanding and please correct me if I am wrong. When you exercise (aerobically) you initially use your glucose(sugar) as a fuel source. The longer you exercise the less glucose you have readily available and your body begins to convert fat for fuel/energy. Kind of a rule of thirds. If you exercised for one hour then the first 20 minutes primarily glucose is used. Second 20 minutes half glucose/half fat. Third 20 minutes reverses to mostly fat with little glucose. This would be for an hour of aerobic exercise. If you exercised longer it would of course continue to convert fat for fuel. M

Good work! Mvpo sounds correct to me. My surgeon said aerobic exercise burns fat and doesn't start the fat-burning until after 30 minutes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
