I would like to suggest the Lipton Cup-a-soup Cream of chicken soup/broth. I was looking through older threads trying to get more variety, and saw an old timer suggest the Soup. It is like a broth, but has a very delicious taste. I am going to buy an unflavored Protein to mix with it too, since it has barely any.

I will add it to the list-Thanks for the suggestions

I'm from southern California, you?

Yes, I'm EXTREMELY nervous. Nervous about the actual surgery itself and not losing weight after surgery. I'm getting really excited though and can't wait to lose the weight. You?

Are you required to do a pre-op diet?

I am from New York. I am very excited and so nervous about, after the surgery. I am not on pre-op diet. Just the day before surgery all liquids.. I am worried on how fast I chew food or drink Water. I have been working on that, I'm having a hard time.. Lol I usually just gozzle Water so fast, ughh Anyway I pray every night that surgery will go well :) are you on pre op diet?? Are u prepared with all ur tools and liquids for after surgery.

I'm not on the diet yet. Two weeks before I have to start a liquid diet. I've been experimenting with different shakes, and so far they don't taste too bad. Clear Liquids only the day before surgery.

I still need to go shopping for a few items for post surgery, like gas x and boxed Jello so I can make Protein jello. I wanted to make a heating pad with flax seed but will have to settle for rice or corn ( flax is too expensive around here ) but that's ok because the rice and corn still absorb heat well. Are you ready? How much time off of work are you getting?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
