What Are Your Cant Haves

Recommended Posts

The list of foods I can no longer tolerate is quite long, but I have had plenty of time to get used to it and no longer miss any of it. I thought I would miss pizza more than I do. After I have a problem with any type of food, it just no longer even sounds good. From day one my stomach was very sensitive and I also reached the green zone very early. There was not much of a bandster hell for me.

Some of the foods on my can not eat list:

Dense meats like steak, ribs, pork roast, chicken breast.....

Pasta

rice

bread

pizza (may be able to do a very small slice of very thin, but doesn't taste good anymore)

fried or breaded foods

eggs

tortillas

I'm sure my list is longer, but these are what comes to mind.

I have been pretty fortunate to be able to eat most anything. The only 2 foods I have given up is scrambled eggs and french fries.....they get stuck everytime. I can eat bread, Pasta, pizza, rice, fruit, and most meats (I don't eat much red meat though...mainly because I don't think it's very healthy). As long as I am careful, I don't usually have a problem. Occasionally I have trouble with veggies, but I don't sweat it. I make smoothies with fruits and veggies so I can get the nutrients in.

I have noticed that "my time of the month" plays a big part too. I have to be extra careful around that time. It's really the only time I have issues with being too tight.

I have been banded since Oct 2011 but finally just got restriction 3 weeks ago with my 4th fill. After this fill there are foods that i just cant have no matter how well i chew before i could eat 1small piece of pizza now not even one bite :) ground beef nope not now Peanut Butter nope :( i love Peanut Butter today realize even scrambled eggs get stuck. BUT i can still have my ground turkey tuna moist chicken an salad.

What are some foods that you can nolonger have?

Make sure u check to make sure they didn't fill u to much...I had that problem a.d found out I was to tight...so they had me go on liquids for a week and soft the next...the reason I had something stuck in the throat ..

You will know! If you eat something and it's not going through' date=' its almost like really bad indigestion, my chest HURTS! At least that's how it is for me! However, last night, the baked chicken I ate must have been too dry, because I woke up at 12:30 in so much pain and didn't know whyn it was a different kin of pain. It was like my port site hurt internally! I made myself throw up, which I was surprised the food was still there, and I felt better. I figured it had be 5 hrs since I ate dinner, I figured I had already digested it!

Good luck! Don't worry too much about what you eat, just concentrate on chewing it enough! In the beginning I could eat everything, now, listening to other people's "can't haves", I realize other people can eat what I can't, or I can eat what they can't! You will be different also, and you will figure it out as you go![/quote']

Thank you. I dread that moment. I have this vision of not being able to breathe.

I haven't had a stuck episode with my 'can't haves' but it does come back up. I'll be sitting there a couple minutes after eating and vwooooop up it comes. Mad dash to the restroom. pills go through real slow though and I hate it. Sometimes I PB on them.

The only thing so far I figured out I cant have is radishes. I tried them this past saturday at a resturant with my cousin and her 2 kids. I was alone at the table with the baby and ate one and instantly I needed to go to the restroom. She was up getting a salad and I had t wait because i obviously couldnt leave the baby alone...and as soon as she came around the corner I was up and running to the restroom... of course we were really far from it too!

Not much that I can't have anymore either. I stick to filet mignon now, instead of rib eyes or New York steaks. Other than that, the only thing that gives me a problem is snow peas, and oh how I do miss those! I made them a couple of nights ago and just ate the seeds from the inside. Even though I do destring them, they have given me a problem the few times I ate them.

I can't do any steak, not even prime rib which was always a favorite of mine. I live on mostly smoothies and fish. I can do Peanut Butter, yum, yum! Salads and raw veggies get to me, also. I can eat, very slowly, and slighly, a salad which has different lettuce other than iceberg. I can eat hard breads, and just recently started to eat small slices of then crust pizza. I don't eat potaotes, unless I have a fry or 2. My advice, also, is NEVER eat in the car.

Ooooh, go on. I never thought of this and actually haven't tried it in 15 months. I can see myself getting very werpy (hehe) in the car, or God Forbid actually PBing.

Bean sprouts are surprisingly the worst. They always get stuck. I also have issues dealing with raw fruits & veg with skins. Some meats. Honestly for me it depends on the day. What I can eat fairly easily one day, I can't the next, with no reason!

No breads, red meat or Pasta for me. And meat that is dry is impossible.

I know nothing about PB2, but it sounds like something I'd love. Where do you buy it?

Elizabeth Anne, I bought mine on Amazon.com and got the chocolate varitey as well they came together for around 12 dollars.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
