I tried abt every shake out there, and my biggest problem is the taste of the artificial sugar, BARF! I got a case of Premier yesterday at Sam's and LOVE IT!

Hi all,

Feeling like I may have made a mistake today by getting a fill. I only got .2 but now I am at 6.7 cc's. Crap the heartburn is brutal! I have only been sipping but not getting far. I am hoping after 2 days that it will calm down. Hot choclate has worked the best today I am managing to finish it. Gurgling & burbing :). Tried Jello OK but no calories. I will try my shake again in a bit. Better to sip and get some. Dying to get these last 30 lbs done! Good luck all!

K

I'm experiencing the same thing. So do you just wait it out our did you get unfill? I'm hiccuping, gurgling, foaming, and sipping liquids but that's tough. Just got a fill today.

I went in first thing this morning to get a sought unfill. I started hurling foam in the middle of the night and it was not pleasant.

Well, I think I may be headed for my first "unfill" tomorrow. I had a fill about 3 weeks ago. I'm up to 7.9cc in a 10cc band. I have been getting things stuck almost everyday. At first I thought it was because I hadn't followed the "chewing" rule well enough and that I just needed to slow down and chew better. But once I got stuck on a tropical smoothie, I thought "okay, maybe I'm too tight". I've put it off because I want to have the restriction but I hate the stuck feeling and pbing. It hurts! I swear my band actually feels like it got tighter about two weeks AFTER my fill. Now, I can't get down any meats without it getting stuck. I've gone back to Protein Shakes, Soups, and soft mushy foods....not healthy ones to be honest. So, then I beat myself thinking I just have "head hunger" and should be happily losing weight right now while I can't tolerate foods, but then I feel weak and eat the slidders to have something in my stomach. So I'm not even getting the benefit of losing weight even though my band is very tight?! I guess I will find out what my doctor says tomorrow.

Keep posting personal experiences. It's so helpful!

Hokiemama, that was me last week! I was getting stuck on my morning coffee every day. Too tight! I had .25 cc removed, and it's made a huge difference! You don't need to have it all removed; even a small de-fill will help. Good luck!

I had my 4th fill yesterday & can only tolerate liquids. I am so miserable this time. Not sure if I should ask for them to take some out, or wait it out. Any suggestions?

Thank you! Well, I got my first "unfill" yesterday. He took about 2 cc out and put me on Nexium for 2 weeks to help with swelling and irritation due to all of my stuck episodes. I cannot believe how much better I felt instantly. I hadn't realized how uncomfortable I had been. I feel like I can even breath better now. I can get a small fill in 3 weeks but he wants to make sure everything calms down first. I am concerned that I will gain weight, but I will do my best to follow the rules closely.

I also got some taken out today....they removed 3 cc's. I had my 4th fill 5 days ago, and had been unable to keep anything down except liquids until today. My Dr says it can be related to allergy season, as this is common this time of year (in Texas). The extra sinus drainage causes swelling. They also told me that each time I was vomiting, I was causing even more irritation & swelling :(

I am amazed that just 3 little cc's could make such a difference. I too am concerned about gaining in the next 3 weeks now until my next fill. So I will really have to be careful.

Isn't it Crazy how much just a tiny fill can screw you up? I had my first fill last week and it's very restrictive 5 days later. (5cc) ...scrambled eggs today didn't make it down for very long.......

Hokiemma..I am just like you..I don't want a un-fill because I think I am eating too fast and not chewing and I am stuborn, but I am not eating much..my EAS Protein Shakes are yummy to me and I make sure I have atleast one a day to get the Protein that I need, but I think I am going to have to just figure out what I can eat and get the most protein for my buck !

It's a lifestyle change..thats why most of us have it ! I have to change my way of past eating and get my head on straight everytime I eat. Old habits are hard to break....But I will continue to get through this..since I made the decision to get healthy...I joined a ladies Boot camp 5 months ago, knowing that I was having Surgery to get a head start..I do 2 days of cardio for one hour and 1 day of weighlifting for an hour and I am feeling great along with atleast a 2 mile walk everyday and ofcourse 64+ oz. Water and Crystal Light.

I am going to stick to a well chewed diet and take my time,( I just love cold food )

Everyones body is different so What works for my 10cc band might not work for others..... Hang in there ....Let's get healthy !

Loved reading about what all of you are doing to get past the tight feeling in your band. I too went fo a tiny unfill last week. I was having major heartburn so bad even when i didn't eat i was burping nasty smelling stuff up non stop. he told me if I still did that I need to call office and they would schedule me for an upper gi with barrium. It's so weird I have had 5cc in my band before and just felt tight. But I only have 2 1/2 cc in my band some days its super tight some days I can eat anything. I'm still burping from time to time not as much but enough to know somethings wrong. He said my band may have slipped thats one of the signs. OMG I sure hope not. If so I hope they can unfill me all the way and it fix its self. So im waiting on dr to call and schedule that in two weeks. I know sometimes its hard with the band but I need it. I could always lose the weight. It was keeping it off that was my problem. With the band as my tool it always reminds me I need to stop. Without backup from it sheww scary thought. Have any of you had that problem?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
