My All U Can Eat Pancake Experience...

Recommended Posts

Were out of the state right now. My mom had a stroke last week so my husband an I are staying in a hotel. We have been eating out at every meal. This morning we went to Denny's and they had a $4 all u can eat pancake Breakfast. Sounded good to me. I haven't eaten pancakes in over 2 yrs since my surgery. I eat bread, Pasta, rice and whatever else I want with no problems. Usually. I managed to eat about 4 bites before ending up in the bathroom with my head over the toilet.

Lesson learned. Back to my usual 1 egg and 4 oz of yogurt for Breakfast.< /p>

it's so interesting how i still fix my plate(when i'm not tight like right now), like i can still eat it. most times my desires have changed and i dont want food i used to want(this still blows my mind), but i still find myself trying things i know i cant get down. i'm crazy i know, but one thing i will never try is skin from a sausage or chicken or turkey,...just the thought of that makes my band tighten..lol

Tuesday is the all you can eat Free pancakes at IHOP. I am going with DH and 44 year old stepson who still lives with us, that is another story! But you can bet I won't be eating pancakes - well maybe just a bite or two.</P>

I go to Denny's and order the value slam: egg whites, turkey bacon and whole wheat pancakes. I have no trouble with the pancakes.

I still make at home for hubby and make a tiny one for me with a poached egg over it. I'm learning to eat Protein first and less likely to eat more of the other things on plate.

Oh, pancakes, my dear pancakes. They're one of my favorite foods, I will not lie. My trick to eating them is cutting a chunk off, and then cutting it in half through the middle to make it much thinner. I'm able to eat them then. It's a little work, but I love pancakes.

Sometimes I can just eat them. I just have to chew real well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
