New Sneakers And Fitbit...

Recommended Posts

I'm on a roll. After getting the Fit Bit that became a hot topic here this past week, I decided to treat myself to a good pr of sneakers. Someone here mentioned due to the fact of being overweight, alot of us are over pronated when walking. I am one of those people. Not sure if and how much will change as I lose the weight, however, I went to a running store yesterday that evaluates your feet, jogging, etc. They fit me with my personal insoles to assist in alleviating my problem, as well as getting the right fit of sneaker for the exercises I'm doing. and also suggested what sneaker would be best for me. After all, when your feet ache, the rest of your body does too. I ended up leaving with two prs of sneakers. Afterall, I've saved so much money in a month's time doing "drive bys' at fast food {not drive in windows} places and not buying junk food for home I could justify the second pair, and, they were on sale. Like I said, I can justify.....

I bought myself a striiv and a new pair of shoes! I am almost ready to start my C2K5 program as well! Surgery date is 3/23/12 and I can hardly wait. Pre-op diet starts this friday. Enjoy your fitbit, I LOVE my striiv.

I had never heard of a fitbit until now? Do you really like it? Is it worth it?

I love my FitBit! I only found out about it from being on this wonderful site. It keeps me real, I never journaled my food before lap band and I think the FitBit encourages me to do it as it offers so many features to help us lose weight. It's typically sold for $99.00 on Amazon, Fit Bit.com and Best Buy but I just looked at Amazon and they have them on sale for under $95.00 for a short time only. Although it's just a few dollars, it's a save. Many of us got on the bandwagon, if you will, around the same time after someone mentioning here and we all love it!

Nicki823: That's great that you're getting ready before your surgery. All I could think about at that time was what foods, or shall I say liquids I should have on hand.

Pollywog: Seeing your ticker tape, you obviously are doing something to keep the "sun" going down on your daisies. :-) Good luck!

Thanks Meredith,

I found some of the old posts on here and I checked out the Fitbit site. I exercise quite a bit but I'm a numbers person and I'm really excited about getting myself one. I like to plan little rewards for myself so I'll get one for myself when I hit either -85 or -90 depending on how much patience I have. LOL!!!

Your comment about my ticker was cute, thanks for noticing! I call my band daisy so I thought it was very appropriate.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
