1St Fill Today/new To The Group

Recommended Posts

Good Evening!

Very excited to start my journey with all of you. I was banded on January 11th 2012. I had my 1st fill today and very excited about it smile.png . My doctor said she gave me 6 CC's and that was good for my 1st fill but now reading some stories I'm wondering if thats to much and should I call in the morning to make sure? unsure.png I feel fine and no problems drinking.

I'm pre-op but from what I've read on here you should be fine unless you start having problems with things going down. Give it a few days, you may be just right. Good luck on your journey!

Don't let other peoples stories concern you...lots of people have fills with no issues at all! There is such a thing as a delayed reaction (can be from a few days to a few weeks after) so if you start having problems swallowing or if things get too tight or painful then call your doctors office. They expect to hear from you. There is no such thing as a stupid question so don't feel afraid to call them with questions. Hopefully you have a local support group you can go to their meetings. I'm over 15 moths out from surgery and I'm always learning new things from my local support group. Good luck and happy losing! Linda

Welcome! That is a lot for a first fill, but if you are okay, your surgeon is the one who is the best adviser. Goodlcuk on your journey! Karen

I agree with these posts. I had my first fill a week and a half ago. In the office and for the first day or two after, I could feel restriction. Then for a day or two, I felt like I couldn't. But then everything settled down and I at eating about a 1/2 cup of food. Blessings and luck to you!

Thank you ladies. Still waiting to feel that restriction. Its been a week. Scheduled another fill for March 15th. Hope it kicks in before that.

Are you just drinking or what stage of food are you eating? If it's still soft food you might not really feel a restriction even with that fill...you don't want to be miserable honestly! I had a fill in late Jan. and the last couple of weeks I was having real problems keeping food down. Wasn't losing weight even though I couldn't eat or drink much of anything. Monday they took out 1.5 cc and I've lost 3 lbs. because I can drink enough fluids and am eating more protein! Who would have figured! Good luck with your journey! Linda

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
