Hello- I was banded on 2/14 and so far having an awesome recovery. I have not had to take any pain medication, no gas pains or nausea. I do have some discomfort when I first stand up. I did have to stay overnight in the hospital because I had a large hernia repair. My only concern is I can only drink about 2 ounces of liquid a day. I had 1 ounce of Jello today at 8:00am and 1 ounce of jello at 1:00pm and I have been so uncomfortably full since then. This has been the same thing everday. Tomorrow I can add milk, creamy Soups, protein shakes and othjer liquids but I am concerned if I get so full from jello how am I going to be able to drink the other liquids? Any suggestions?

Jello is more of a solid, you should be fine with liquid. If you have problems with liquid check with your doctor to see if they added any fill during the surgery. Most of the time when some is having a lot of trouble with liquids post op it's because the doctor added a fill. When the fill is removed they do much better.

I was banded 2/15 and having the same situation. I physically feel great but can barely get liquids down. I have noticed deep breaths are kind of helping. I too am now allowed FULL liquids but not yet for me! I also noticed Popsicles mushed up in a cup is working.

Thanks to both of you! Today is much better and I can eat and drink more. Feel so much better but I am super exhausted still.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
