I Have A Fill Today And Need Advice. Please Help!!!

Recommended Posts

Your doctor sounds a little sketchy but as suggested maybe there is a leak? I don't know....I don't think there is any set weight loss by a certain time, but only 7lb is really low. I can't think it would hurt to insist on a fill, but he may not want you coming back the next day (would insurance cover that visit or do you pay for them?)? Whatever you decide I wish you luck and hope you come to a solution soon!

I didn't get tight enough to truly restrict my food until I had about 8cc in a 10cc band. At 5cc in a 14 cc band, it's very possible you're not feeling anything. If you're hungry, then he needs to know that you're nowhere near feeling the band. And if he doesn't listen, you need to find another dr.

I agree too that the band is only part of it. I lost almost all my weight before I achieved real restriction. But not getting even close to feeling it must be very frustrating - you need to know there will be light at the end of the tunnel or its very hard to keep your motivation up. So I hear you on your frustration.

The band is not doing anything for you right now, so if I were you, I would try to do it yourself until you either do get restriction and until your dr listens to you or you get another dr.

Got my second fill today and this was so helpful! I was expecting something to click and me NEVER be hungry again like when I first had surgery. Thanks to this post I know I should appreciate the weight I am losing and work the band and not wait for the band to work!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
