This may seem dumb or maybe not but is their anyone out there that will be banded on March 8th? Looking for a band buddie I can talk to now and after the surgery? I'm thinking this will make it easier for each other!

March 8th for me!

I ate at golden corral last night, it was a mistake and I did over eat or feel that i did. I had a tsp of a variety of foods mainly veggies no starches, baked meats and chocolate dipped marshmellows. I feel bad but I'm not gonna penalize myself since I've have been on pre-op diet since 1/16. Back on track today for surgery fri, need to stay focused.

March 8th for me!

True Results in Scottsdale, AZ. I've been more or less preop dieting for a month. The first month, I wasn't super strict on it...there were a few days where I'd cheat a bit, but not a lot. Just a roll here, some pasta noodles there. That kind of thing. I've been more strict with it since Thursday. I have a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, a snack, and a meal. To be honest....I usually don't even have the snack. And my meals....that's the hard part. I'm not 100% sure how much I should be eating of what. So, I'm usually pretty careful. 6-8oz of protein and a half a cup to a cup of a veggie. Last night was probably the most I had....8 oz of meat, 1 c. of fried cabbage, and half a cup of green beans.

I also gave up soda a month ago, since I know that I won't be able to have it after surgery. I thought it would be horrible, because I was addicted to Mt. Dew, but...it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. The worst part is when we are baking cookies in the office for our residents...it smells SOOOO GOOOD, but I can't have any.

MissManders, Sounds like you have doing well. I was addicted to Coke and when I found out I was diabetic in October, I switched to Coke Zero. Now I have given that up. I gave it up pretty easily but know how easy it would be for me to get back into that habit.

Nights are the worst for me and wanting to snack. I grew up snacking and watching TV especially at night. So I am trying to break that 37 yr habit. This is day 2 of my pre-op diet and I am starved. My smell has intensived and everything smells 110% more yummy. lol.

..i see you mentioning the south beach diet here. its just a marvellous way of eating. ive tried it before , wanted to keep it up but my motivation wasnt as strong. im hoping after my surgery to come back to it. Did you dr want you to do Phase 1 or was it your idea?

... this is something i want to know about .... can we have fizzy drinks after surgery at all?? i love zero coke... and other diabetic drinks, not that i have a lot of them but i do have them here and use them daily.

I have heard that you can drink them but the air bubbles hurt (feels like gas pains). My addiction at the moment is SF Kool-aid. My co-workers all ask me what I am drinking and when I tell them SF Kool-aid they make a face and ugh.. :-p When I would drink coke, I would hear "If you would cut out your Coke, you would lose weight." Now that I have cut it out, they still don't like what I drink..

The nutritionist where I go said that some of the patients pour a soda over ice in a cup and can drink it with no problems vs drinking directly out of the can or bottle. This allows some of the carbonation to escape a little.
