How Much On Liquid Stage?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i had my band fitted yesterday and I got home this morning, so far I've had :

B- Almost a full actimel (small very watery yogurt drink) and half a glass of fresh fruit juice-no bits.

L- 3/4 of a cup of watery Tomato Soup and an actimel.

Just about to have a small cup of watery chicken Soup.< /p>

Does this sound too much? What did you have on the liquid stage? How much?

Thank you!

Don't worry about too much liquid during your healing phase. You don't want to get dehydrated and your main goal is to heal and recover from surgery. Be sure and sip, sip, sip Water.

I was banded last monday, the 30th, and I had a LARGE thing of egg drop Soup today for lunch....and now I feel so full. I think I over did it with that damn soup, it just tasted so good! Hoping I didn't mess anything up :/

You didn't. My doctor told me it is hard to mess up during your healing phase as long as you stick to your liquids.< /p>

My tummy is a really weird shape, like the gas has bloated it out but in a weird shape if that makes sense! How long are you guys on your liquid stage for? I've to stay on liquids for 2weeks which Im glad about as Im nervous about eating!

I was banded Friday and am on 2 weeks liquids as well. I have been having a mug of hot tea and a SF Jello cup for Breakfast, a half cup of Beef broth for lunch and then a cup of strained miso Soup for dinner. I have been drinking crystal light in between along with Water, tea and SF Apple Cider.

It's getting a bit boring already LOL. I so wish I could have creamy Soups. Life would be easier!!

Are you not allowed to have slim fast? Im finding that great and a cup is a third of your daily nutrients etc.

It's mad how each surgeon etc can vary so much!

Wow, PixiePower, when were you banded? Most folks on their 2 weeks ,its Clear Liquids, and then after that full liquids which would include Slimfast. You can't really overdo the clear liquid stage! You can drink at will, as imost of it is very low calorie and you need to stay hydrated! Good luck to you all. Karen

Oh Karen Im nervous now i was only banded on Saturday and my provider called me today and slid slim fast was fine, basically anything that you can drink through a straw.

Do you think slim fast is too thick for this stage? It's only about the same consistency of milk?x

If your provder said it is okay, I would not worry about it. Mine was very strict on what I could have. You are not using a straw are you? I was told no straws. I do use one at times, now, but I am 2 1/2 years out.

I think that straws cause you to take in air, and also, drink too fast. I was told I could use skim milk at the clear liquid stage; I was told anything that I could see thru was okay. To curb your muchies, I was told I could use hard candy to suck on, I used "dumdum" lollipops. Everything is supposed to be sugar free, but, a little sugar shouldn't be harmful. Good luck, Karen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
