Frustrated & Scared, No Restriction Yet.

Recommended Posts

LBS on Dec 15. Initial fill was 1.5 cc's. I felt I had made the right decision as I was not hungry and unable to eat while adhering to liquid diet & soft foods. At 4 weeks ahd 2cc's. felt restriction for 2 days, and after that I was hungry and am now able to eat a side of BEEF! why is it that I feel initial restriction after fill and then I am back to normal eating? I will be going in for another fill soon. Will the day come when I have that constant feeling of restriction? I spent a lot of money for this, and yes I amhoping it will be the majic cure all.

It definitely is going to take a couple of fills before youdind the feeling of fullness. Relax you will get there. It takes a couple of fills before u reach that point.

I've had 4 fills and still no restriction, though I'm still losing very slowly.

That is how the lap band works, slowly and the reason the restriction seems to loosen up is you are losing fat around where your band is. It is normal to have to have adjustments, you have lost a lot be proud of yourself and keep after the goal!

It takes a while, it took me 3 fills. Had my surgery in July and I'm now feeling the "real" restriction"...it will happen and it's better to go slow anyway, this way you get use to eating small amounts at a slower pace.

I also agree its gonna take a few more fills before you feel restrictions. Be patient.... Enjoy cause it may not be so pleasant for you when you become too tight.

well when you have no restrictions and all of a sudden you do it does take some time geting us to it? at the most for me. and if your too tight you may start to cough at night and puke. and it may be hard to get back in to see your Dr. if your a distance away and have a very busy schedule at work like me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
