Having terrible pain. Ate steak last night and think I ate to much. No solids today. Had some refried Beans and cheese and now the pain is worse. What have I done?

Im a prebander, so I dont know much, but I thought meat could not be tolerated. Im curious though, are you just getting the pain now or did you feel it throughout the night and today?

If you've eaten something too large to pass through your stoma, it will probably have to be removed manually.

You should contact your surgeon and get some real medical advice. In the meantime, a visit to your local ER

would probably be in order. Some folks recommend meat tenderizer, but I don't know if I'd wait. Best of luck to

you, and let us know how you make out.

I've had things get stuck and kept to Soup for the next couple of days. Sometimes when you get something stuck, the stomach around the band gets irritated and swells up. Hopefully it will pass. I had something get stuck, and couldn't even keep saliva down. Had to have a slight unfill and it was instant relief!

I have also seen recommendations for papaya chewables to help digest food that is stuck. I know you realize this now but steak is not a mushie.

You probably need to go get some Fluid taken out of your band. Either way, seek medical help ASAP.

What does the pain feel like? Where is it at? If its between your breast bone, it could be that you irritated something right above your stomach. If its lower, you might have eaten to much and it needs to digest. I ate way to much once and got this awful pain just below my breast bone that lasted several hours.

Either way, I would keep to liquids until you can get into the doctor if it keeps hurting. If you cant keep liquids down, I would go to the ER right away. Does your doctor have an after hours number you can try?

goodluck!

Talked to my doc. She says to go liquid for a few days. More than likely it's not a slip. Probably that steak has irritated my tummy. So, will do liquids for a while and see what happens. She said it takes alot for the band to slip so I should be okay as I haven't been vomiting. Jiust have to be nice to the tummy for a bit. Lortab every 6 hours is helping with pain so I should be good. No more steak for me!!!

You should call your doctor. Also, go to liquids completely for a few days. If you irritated your tummy then it is probably swollen and angry. Finally after 4 days the tightness and pain are starting to ease up. I haven't even had a fill yet. If I am doing good by next week maybe then, but you should for sure go to straight liquids and wait a few days to see if that helps, but in the meantime, call your doc.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
