HI ALL--

JUST A QUICK NOTE TO SAY I'VE HAD MY FIRST FILL ON THURSDAY AND IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED. I GO TO SEE DR. HAWASLI (WHO IS GREAT, BY THE WAY) AGAIN ON THE 28TH. HE'S THE ONE WHO DOES THE FILLS, NOT A NURSE. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, (PAINWISE), BUT I'VE HAD SHOTS WHICH HURT MORE THAN THAT. SEEING THE PULMONOLOGIST TOMORROW TO BE (I HOPE) TAKEN OFF THE OXYGEN. GETTING IN AT LEAST 3 DAYS/WEEK AT THE WARREN POOL FOR WALKING AND AEROBICS.

The waiting is making me crazy! I think I'll call the surgeon's office to see if they have everything yet. Anyone out there using Grand Traverse Surgery?

Hi! I was also banded through Grand Traverse with Dr. Slikkers. I love their office. I also had Dr. Ralph Ford (the doctor out on Old Mission Peninsula) and thought he was great. I actually just had to go back to Munson yesterday because I had a flipped port and it was simple, didn't hurt and was done quickly.

When were you banded, Megster?

I saw the psych at "Old Town Psych Serv" Dr Mike somebody, I don't remember, but he was GOOD looking! I know there is a support group for bariatric surgery (mostly RNY people) and I asked him about a Lap Band support group. He said there isn't one around here, but he's been thinking about starting one. He said 8 out of 10 patients he sees now are Lap Banders. I live about 30 minutes from TC, but would probably attend if he started one. If there is enough interest, I bet he'd do it.

KEEP YOUR CHIN UP, BLUND. I WAITED FROM FEB 1, 2007 UNTIL OCTOBER 24 TO FINALLY GET MY BAND. THE WAIT IS WORTH IT. I CAN SAY THAT NOW, BUT HAD MY DOUBTS AT TIMES.

I left a message with the coordinator at my surgeon's office. I'm sure she has all the patients driving her nuts. Hopefully she'll call back today or tomorrow.

Hello Blund

I was banded on Dec. 7 2007. I live in the UP so it is quite a drive for me so i probably wouldn't attend any meetings.

Hi Yankeeblue 08: Just thought I'd say "I'm from saint clair shores" and I don't no of any specialists over here. I had my work done at Henry Fords.

Like PH they are a Center of Excellence. They have got the handle on this whole Bariatric thing. the U of M Hospital told me to go there, they said "we have not yet perfected it, but we will!! So in the meantime go to H.F.H. they have the Monopoly on this. Well they were really good,

I can't complain. Just thought I would tell a little about my journey.

Keep in touch Neighbors. Band member forever. Shirley...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
