I had my surgery on April 18, 2011 and I have lost 30 pounds. I have not lost a pound since oct. I am frustrated and feel like a junkie of carbs. I eat the right foods, but I also eat small portions of the wrong food from time to time. I can honestly say That there has not been a day I have been absolutely carb free. I work out and enjoy working out, I just feel like I should be doing better. My doc says I should have lost 50-60 pounds by now and I know he's right because I've been messing up. I don't know how to get back on track.

I cough all the time and I have a pain under my rib cage. I'm scared to tell doc for fear he'll tell me he has to take it out. It is a pain identical to the one many of you mentioned in your blog, but mine just started about a month ago.

Sounds like your in tge Red Zone. Talk to your surgeon, hes there to help you succeed! Also if there is a dietician in the office talk over your diet with her. Are you getting your Protein and Fluid intake all in? Just some thought.

I don't know what sort of diet they put you on, but I ate carbs right through losing. Not a huge amount, but I did it eat it. I had Pasta and noodles (the two things I could tolerate) almost everyday, albeit in small amounts.

It's not the carbs IMO. It's the calories. Now I never counted calories but I KNOW I was working off more than I was eating. And if I stopped losing, I exercised more, and made sure my diet was balanced and low fat and low calorie (even if I didn't add all the calories up). If you're not losing, start food journalling. Use a site like calorieking. It will give you an indication of how many calories you're consuming a day. Then add your exercise and it will tell you how much you're burning off. You might find it a great way to figure out why your weight loss has stalled.

First, you need to tell your surgeon about the pain and coughing. it's very likely your band is too tight and some of the saline needs to be removed. If that is the case it's important you do so you don't risk damage to your stomach.

If I were you, I would keep a food journal for a week. Write down everything you eat. Then, take that journal to the dietitian so they can go over it with you. By seeing what you're eating, they will be able to see where you need to make changes. Really, it's the only way you'd going to get sound advice.

Thank you all for your comments. I was discouraged and today when I got on the scale I lost 5 lbs. I'm so happy! I go to my doc on Thursday and I will share my concerns I shared. I hope This means my body will start losing more weight. My staff says I'm melting away. My clothes are very loose, but I'm a numbers person and the result to me has to be on the scale. I need 50 more pounds to go away. I am glad you guys are out there! Thank you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
