Hi everyone! I am new to posting, although I joined right after I met with the surgeon for my first consultation. I am in my second week of the pre-op diet and am scheduled for surgery on Thursday, 1/19. So far I am a little nervous, but I am so excited about it.

I lost about 9 pounds within the first week of the post-op diet, but that has tapered off. I am hoping to lose at least a couple more. I have been following the diet pretty strictly - two shakes per day and a "sensible" 200-300 calorie meal. I have also been eating garden salads on a couple of days and just snacked on carrots and grape tomatoes. It seems the least I can do is try to follow the diet for the two weeks before the surgery...I want to be as committed to this life change as possible.

I am also trying to stock up on everything I will need for after the surgery. I have lots of Sobe Lifewater (zero-cal of course!), sugar-free Jello, and chewable vitamins and Calcium. I probably should buy some broth, but that seems so unappealing. I only have to do Clear Liquids for 1 day, then move on to liquids. I plan to continue my Protein Shakes, maybe add in low-fat yogurt and cottage cheese, and cream Soups (I love Tomato soup!).

Any other suggestions? I would welcome any advice. :-)

I made lots of veggie Soups and added in lentils etc for Protein and then blended and froze them.

Greek yogurt, sugar-free pudding, Jolly Roger popsicles (they're AWESOME), and some V-8 or V-8 fusion Light (to get your veggies in!). Tea and chicken broth taste really good after your surgery - the warmth makes your tummy feel good.

instant Breakfast or boost Protein Drinks, sugar free pudding cups (frozen , they taste like ice cream). i wish id had lifesavers right after surgery, i had bad cottonmouth all day. even ice and Water wasnt helping until later in the day. also- liquid tylenol, the liquid pain reliever they give you is beyond horrible. best of luck to you !

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I appreciate any advice.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
