Light Bleeding From Largest Incision

Recommended Posts

Im calling the doc tomorrow but wanted to know if others experience light bleeding from the port incision? It's not a lot... I only have to change bandage like once a day. It didn't start unil the day after surgery. I wasn't sure if I messed something up by moving. Also it's not infected, no puss just light blood. I was told could have ome from the blood thinner shot.

I am getting banded next week. How has your pain been? Can you share any experiences with the surgery that might be helpful?

I was banded last Friday and the pain wasn't bad at all. I was off the painkillers after 2-3 days. I think the worst part was waking up in recovery. I remember asking for pain killers right away because my stomach was hurting but I think that might have been from the plication more than the band. Make sure you have your after surgery pain meds in place, I asked my doctor's office about getting the script to fill before surgery and they said that the surgery center would give them to me after the surgery. Unfortunately it turned out not to be true, and my sister had a hard time finding a pharmacy that had the drug in stock so we had to call the doctor's office to get another script and finally get that filled which took several hours.

I am 2 weeks PO and I agree with shellyac also the day before surgery, drink drink drink to be sufficiently hydrated so your IV will be easier to get started. My pain was most intense when I woke up in recovery, I think it was the plication, which I am so glad my Dr did after I researched what it is. Good Luck and happy surgery day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
