Anybody Around Dayton Still Here?

Recommended Posts

I'm quite a ways north of Dayton, about halfway between Dayton and Lima, but going to Premier Bariatrics (Good Sam/Miami Valley) for my surgery. I saw a thread from a while ago by some Dayton people, but it doesn't look like any of them are still active on here... I would love some local folks to talk to!

Hi!! Welcome to the lap band boards. I am in the dayton area too. I had my surgery on December 16th. I see you should be recovering about now since it says your surgery is on the 25th of April. I hope all is well. If you need advice or help this board is a great place. Just try not to compare yourself to others toooooo much. Would love to hear how you are doing after your surgery.

Best wishes,

Diana

I live just about 15 minutes north of Dayton. I've been banded since Sept'08 and I've done horrible since having my baby almost 10 months ago. I'm starting over again. Going to get a fill tomorrow and would really LOVE to talk to people who are in the same area (generally) and who understand the struggles with being banded.

I am almost at my six month mark and really feel like I could be doing better. I really need to get back to the doctor and get another fill. I need to also get back into my routine of walking and the gym. I really think I should have more in my band by now. I feel that my doctor could put more in when I get filled. So, I think it is just a slow process for me.

Anyway, It is glad to know that there is local people on here to talk to. Hope everyone is going great and stay positive!!!!

Wish it was going better for you - i agree go get the fills - they did it slowly for me too but it was worth not rushing it in the end - until you hit restriction it's just like any other diet you've been on. Stay patient and regularly see your doc for those fills and you will get there. I couldn't overeat now if i wanted to!

Great to see everyone from around the area. I am doing a little better. Still need more restriction but just have not had time to schedule a fill. I have also been trying to get pregnant so I am just trying to pace myself. I have lost 10 more pounds maybe more. I haven't weighed in for a few weeks. I feel great so who knows.

I wish you the best on your surgery. Just remember its a process. It takes time and hard work. liquids will be your friend for a little while.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
