Hi everyone! I sure do miss you all! I hate not being able to check in as often as I used to. Hope everyone is doing well. Sounds like we're each having some real challenges! Its okay though...we can do this. We just have to remember that the only thing for which food is an actual solution, is nourishment & ACTUAL hunger! With that being said, I must admit to caving in to Doritos and 3 Musketeers (chocolate nougat) Bars this week. Have only been to the gym once this week but walked at lunch two days and got on my mom's elliptical for about 10 or 15 minutes this morning. Its not much but at least I was moving. I'm kinda maintaining...back to playing around with the same two or three pounds. I guess another liquid diet fast is in order...and getting to bed earlier so I can get my butt outta bed in the mornings and go to the gym!! Hope you all have a great weekend! I think we might visit an alpaca farm on Sunday! If you've not felt anything made from alpaca "wool", you don't know what you're missing....so VERY soft and warm!! God bless!

Getting ready to fly home and feeling a little blechy. I don't think my band likes altitude changes. Has anyone else had this?

Hi all! good, busy weeked. got some great deals at a yard-sale yesterday ( no clothes though..boo!). Got back to 85lbs lost (again!) yesterday. However, today I've grazed on Doritos and one of those school fundraiser candy bars. My latest addiction is to Snapple's diet half tea/half lemonade drink. Its made with sucralose (that's splenda, right?). Anyway, I'm wondering if drinking that is hindering my loss somehow? I absolutely MUST get back to the gym this week. I MUST start logging my food again and I MUST start measuring my food again. Ya'll help me not fall back into those old habits...PLEASE!

Hi everyone! Every time I tried to log in over the weekend on my phone it just timed out...so here I am.

Chrissy- I'm with you, falling into some bad habits I need to get over. I was thinking yesterday in the shower that the "newness" has worn off, and now it's time to really claim this as my lifestyle. I'm NOT doing a diet, I'm doing a way I eat for the rest of my life.

Ladybandido- I thought that's what we were supposed to do with the band, keep in the green zone, which will change based on lost weight, as well as other factors. Hm. But glad you had a great doctor's visit!!

Amica- LOL on the skinny jeans! I haven't had any altitude changes to speak of, but I did ask my doc about flying as I'm hoping to go to France next year- she said to treat flying and the day after like I would a fill day- liquids- as the pressure changes can affect the band. Hope you feel better.

Ready!! Yay! You are so close! I'm self-sabotaging, so I'm not with you really anymore, but GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! How are things with DH?

As for me- really, ice cream I think is going to have to go. I ate SO MUCH of it over the weekend. It's like, once I start I just can't stop. I am trying to convince myself that it's either one or none- as in one bowl or none at all. We'll see, if I can follow that rule maybe I'll keep it. I will try one last week and see- or I will just have to get rid of all the ice cream. I ate so much I'm still full this morning and feel just sick- physically and mentally, ya know? Like, what's up? I know it's just a HUGE trigger food for me, so maybe I just need to get it out of my life....any ideas? Like, I ate more than 3000 calories of ice cream yesterday. Yep.

Hubby found the pic on the left from our beach trip one year ago (we're headed there next week!). The pic on the right was snapped at work today. Despite the fact I look like Velma from the Scooby Doo gang, I'm pretty pleased with the difference. 70 down and 55 to go! :D

Amica you are beautiful, great job with the band!

JustDoIt and Crissylu, I too was thinking about the "newness wearing off" factor. Now that I'm not "tight" at all, I've been munching a bit more than usual and I got on the ice cream wagon too... Not quite on the ice cream truck although I might as well have been, mind you, but ice cream every evening for the past few day (ok, week) and for me, those sugar calories really add up! Ouch, ouch. I am back on myfitnesspal again, back at it.

okay...so...I went to the free apparel day at Sears Outlets today (it was the last one they are going to have for a while) and I got three pairs of pants and only spent a little over $8! I got a great pair of jeans (sz 14) and a pair of navy pinstriped slacks (14) and a pair of black & white French Connection slacks. wait for it..... size 12!!!! Ha! I haven't bought a size 12 in over 20 years!!! Cant wait to wear them. They are in the washing machine now, in hopes that I can wear them tomorrow. LOL! Of course, I also realized how very non-standard women's sizes are. I purchased a pair of 12's that fit perfectly...but I tried on a pair of 16s that were way to tight! What the crap is that all about? Geez..I've been buying plus sizes for so long, I don't know how to buy smaller sizes. Some fashionista out there needs to teach me!

Amica...great picture!!! So proud for you and the accomplishment you've made! For some reason, I can no longer post in this thread at work. Its very strange. I miss being able to post to you all during the day. trying to get back into the habit of logging my food. Have had a problem today with eating. I was barely able to get liquids down. It happened seemingly overnight. I finally realized I'd had to take laxatives over the weekend, so I'm wondering if I might've gotten dehydrated. Liquids for me for a couple of days. How's everyone else doing??

Hi everyone! DD was in a car accident yesterday- everyone was all right, but it was her fault, so dealing with that a little today. She's 18 so she's handling most of it but we'll see what happens with our insurance premium. sigh. It's always something- of course they say these things come in 3's, and this would be the third car thing- every car we own has needed to be fixed in some way or another in the last month!!! Oh well, at least no one was hurt, for that I am so grateful!

On the food front, doing well, disciplined the past few days and I'm down to 202 this morning! Yay!! That's the lowest so far.

Amica- you're gorgeous! I always thought Velma was a secret hottie, LOL. It's fun to see in pictures the progress. You're doing awesome!

Chrissy- size 12!!! I dream of that!! LOL. And you're an awesome shopper, btw! Yah, idk what's up with women's sizing, but honey, take those 12's and run!

Ladybandido- I don't know what I'd do without myfitnesspal, I rely on it so much! I am diligent about logging as I know what happens when I don't- the calories creep- who am I kidding, they storm- in.

Kymie- nice to see you! My doc says any non-soda sugar free stuff (Crystal Light, etc) count as Water too. I still don't do too much of it, not sure about all the sugar substitutes....

Well, everyone have a great day and I'll check in later!

JDI - Glad everyone's okay! Have you tried Arctic Zero yet? It's a whey Protein frozen dessert that's supposed to only have 150 calories per PINT! It's gotten incredible reviews for taste - I have some in the freezer but am a little nervous about trying it. I did see one article that stated the manufacturer underestimated the calorie count, but even if it's 250 calories for the pint, that's a far cry from the calories in a pint of Ben and Jerry's! I think I may have some tonight after dinner so I'll let you know how it is. If it works as a substitute, don't give up your treat completely! I find if I deprive myself I want it more and end up eating a lot more than I should or even really want to. I am worried about the amount you're eating, though. Are you not getting the restriction when you eat it? I'm at the point where even Water too fast causes issues!

OMG...... WTH!!!!! Went to doc got on scale said 213.5 on Monday got on scale today and it says 218.... WTH.......Not sure what happened. I have been having a heck of a time keeping food down so no reason to gain. On the good side 218 or 213.5 is better then the 275 start weight.

So i am open to suggestions or tips.....

Thanks

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
