Help Stuck 1 And 1/2 Week Postop

Recommended Posts

My surgeon cleared me for mushies after surgery. I got a little lazy to bullet the meatballs I made and instead just mashed it. I think they were a little dry and now I have an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and throat. Will this pass or do I have to try to bring it up?

I would not try to bring it up. Walk around, it will pass. Then go back to full liquids for a few days. Let your body heal. Don't stress your new pouch with meat.< /p>

Wow I know all docs are different, but mine told me liquids only for 2 weeks after surgery. I was happy to comply with that as I would rather suffer through a little more liquid diet time to make sure everything was healed up and the swelling from the surgery gone rather than having a stuck incident so quickly. I would follow Arlenes advice and go liquids only for a few days more. As for the meatball that is stuck now, my doc and ppl in support told me to always keep some papaya enzyme handy in case something gets stuck. It is sold in GNC or other health food stores.

I realize you are following you doctor's orders but I would consider meatballs a solid and that was not allow for 5 weeks. At this point I would go to liquids for a few days to let the swelling go down.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
