Lap Band Port Site Lump

Recommended Posts

i was banded on the 7th of december and my port site is quite prominent. I'm not sure if it's just swelling or if it's going to stay that way. i was told that normally you can't see the port but if this lump remains the way it is, then it really shows! What's going to happen when I lose weight...will it stick out more!?? :(( help

Depends upon the layer of fat on your stomach. My port is right below the skin, sitting upon the muscle. No fat.

It sticks out like 1/2 of a golf ball! You can see it from across the room. I will not wear tight fitting t-shirts, etc., because it sticks out so much.

Some people here talk about their port being deep and the Dr. has trouble finding it for fills. A blind man can find mine.

I get the feeling my port is going to stick out like that too soon.

Mine does too but not too bad now. I was banded at the end of August. From what I understand the more weight you lose, the less you will notice the port site.

My port is not visibly noticable right now. Although, if I wore a tight shirt, it might be enough to cause it to jut out a bit (I'm not ready for that yet :)....). My scar is more noticable than the lump itself

Mine sticks out also. I was banded in March 2011 and have lost a little over 70 pds. You really can notice it when I am laying down. It looks like I have a little alien wanting to come out. LOL

Mine looks like a golf ball these days and I'm pretty proud of it! I just dont have any fat there to hide it anymore!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
