My First Lap Band Fill

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I had my first fill. My surgery date was October 12th I was originally scheduled on December 1st for my first fill. Because of the holidays they scheduled it yesterday. The problem I'm having is that I did not eat yesterday at all. Then I went on clear liqueds untill today. Since then I have been feeling nauseated and have no appetite. I did try to eat a peice of toast this morning and feel a little better. I have a problem eating three meals a day. I don't feel hungry and end up eating once a day but I include my shakes as well. Is it normal for me to feel nauseated after my fill? Please help?

You say you have a problem eating three meals a day? Was this prior to the fill? If so, did you tell your doc this? Why would he fill you if you were having a hard time eating before???

If not, it could just be swelling and as long as you cn get liquids down give it a few days to resolve.

I am not allowed to eat solids for 2 days after my fills... then mushie on the 3rd day. Maybe you tried to eat too soon and the swelling is what is making you feel uncomfortable.

I actually had a fill on Wed, I also, only have Clear Liquids for 2 days, a2 days of full liquids and then start regular meals. You may have tried to eat too soon. Try going back to liquids for a day or so. Karen

I had my 2nd fill today. And she told me twice - 2 days of liquids. 2 days of puree. I think you may have ate too soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
