I'm Losing So Slow That Im Starting To Get Demotivated

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 10/18.my first fill was 11/29.up to that point I'd lost 23 pounds, I felt happy and motivated. I had a fill on 11/29 and I've only lost four or five pounds. How can this be with over 6cc's in my band?! I go back for a follow up 12/12.Should I ask for more? I,have good restriction, I'm just losing slow. Any suggestions?

losing 23 lbs in 2 months is nothing to be upset about. That is fantastic! You should lose slow, 1 to 2 lbs a week is optimal. It takes several fills to get a goo restriction. I know sometimes it can be frustrating, but there will be times you will hit a plateau. You are doing great, keep up the good work.

There will be times that scale wont move for months you just have to keep doing what your doing it will come. If you get demotivated this quick in the game then your going to be unhappy all the way. The band does not make you lose weight fast 1-2lbs a week

I don't understand why losing 12 lbs a month would be disappointing.

It's not disappointing. I'm now losing 1 pound or so after my fill so I'm disappointed I'm no longer losing as I was in the beginning. The first four weeks were awesome. Sorry, I was just venting I'm new at this

It's ok. I didn't mean to sound so harsh. I think I misunderstood you. But even 1-2 lbs a week is awesome too. That's all that is expected. I was banded 10/12 and have been losing 1/2 - 2 lbs a week. I had my first fill 12/1 and lost 3 lbs this week so I was thrilled. But I'm trying to be realistic that I won't lose 3 a week through the whole process. Do you exercise? I'm really trying to get on my exercise bike more. I know exercise boosts weight loss and tones in the process.

Arlene I excercise twice a week.I think I got spoiled losing that twenty plus pounds before my fill.I need to reprogram my thinking and remember to be happy with 1-3 pounds a week

My losses averaged 3/4 pound per week. Some weeks I lost more, some less, some none, some gained. It sucked as I was going through it, but as I looked at my ticker factory graph, it went down, down, down on the whole. It gets amazingly frustrating to not see the scale move as fast as we feel it should for as hard as we are working!

But remember, right after surgery and for a few weeks, you were on an extreme diet. As you start to eat, that goes away and the fact that banding is purely restrictive begins to show.

Just keep doing good things, the losses will come.

First of all, I think you're doing well. Some people lose slower than others. I've never been able to average 2 lb per week. A lot of people who were banded the same time as me have lost a lot more than me already but you can't compare to others. In fact as much as it sucks, slower is better. More time for your skin to catch up and I feel less likely to gain it back.

You say you don't see how you're not losing quicker with 6 cc in your band, the band is not going to make you lose weight. As had been said countless times on this board before, it is just a tool. You have to make the right choices, you have to watch yourself. The band does nothing to limit how much is digested such as bypass, so it is up to you. I'm actually not using my tool but I've learned to change myself so I'm still losing. But like I said you're doing well. Remember slow and steady wins the race

If I understand you correctly you've lost 4 or 5 pounds since your fill on 11/29 and you think that's slow? that's 10 days. a half pound a day is far from slow! I have great resteiction at 7cc's and it just took me two weeks to lose one pound! Be grateful everytime the scale goes down! We are all different and I know it's hard to see people on here who lose at alarmingly fast rates, but that's not the norm. You are losing at a really good rate! Congratulations!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
