I know some doctors put in a little bit at the time of surgery. Mine did. I DO think it's weird your doctor doesn't want to see you again for 3 months. I had my follow up appointment a week after surgery and he scheduled my next appointment 6 weeks from surgery. I thought it was the norm to go in every 4 to 6 weeks until you get good restriction. I don't know. I would probably make an appointment to see him sooner if I were you. Or wait and see how you are losing. If you are losing about 2 pounds a week, you are good and probably do not need an adjustment. Good luck!

My doc put in 4 cc's on the day of surgery, which was August 11, 2011. Last week I just had my first fill since surgery. I have been losing weight extremely well anyway but I was just starting to feel like I could eat a little more than I should. I think it is crazy that he couldnt tell you exactly how much he put in on the day of surgery though. Also I am like the other responder on here. I went back in 2 weeks for a post op visit and go once a month for a check in. I dont see my surgeon every time but I have seen him twice since my surgery.

I had 5 cc put in at the time of surgery, in recovery they took out 2cc. My cousin a week later went to the very same surgeon had 8cc put in and 2 taken out in recovery. It all depends on the patient, and how thick thin your stomach walls are.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
