Help Needed Please...1,000 Calories

Recommended Posts

Okay so I've lost 40 pounds so far, but I have been stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks now! I decided to write down everything I was eating and their calories and WOW! 1,000 calories isn't much! I must have been eating a lot more, I feel restriction but I guess not enough? I'm going to stick to this for atleast a week and see if I notice a difference. Question is how do you all do it on 1,000 calories per day? I so thought I was eating around that amount until I started to really count them :( This is going to be difficult! It's only 6pm and I've had 900 calories so far. I try not to eat past 6 anyways, but I'm hungry now...

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! This is what I've had today:

Breakfast- Jay Robb shake 110

W/fruit 30 Like 2 strawberries and 2 slices of small bananas (frozen)

Snack- Almonds pack 100

Lunch- turkey and ham sandwich 250 (on the wheat thin bread)

Wheat thins 120

Dinner- Rotisserie chicken 180 (6ounces)

Green Beans and potatoes 130 (frozen steamfresh)

Am I just eating the wrong foods?

I cant do it, no matter how I try. Its just not enough to eat anything other than rabbit food. Luckily, I've never really had to drop that low.

I'd rather exercise a lot and be able to eat.

How many calories do you have a day? How much are we suppose to have? I used one of those online calorie calculator and it says I should have like 2400 a day! To loose 2 pounds a week, yeah right! I doubt I would loose anything, I would gain :P

Hi Marla, most of us don't lose the same amount everyday, no matter how many calories we eat. some days

you'll lose 6 or 7 lbs and other days, nothing. If you eat an honest 1000 calories a day, you'll have to lose.

If the amount of calories being burned is greater than the amount eaten, energy has to come from fat or muscle,

and at 1000 calories a day, it'll be fat. You didn't mention how much exercise you're getting, but, of course

that's also a big factor in weight loss. Stay on 1000 calories a day and a good exercise program and you

you just have to lose. Good luck.

I am having the opposite issue, I can't manage to eat enough calories. My doctor has me at his Stage 3, which is mostly low fat Proteins. I can have Protein supplements, poultry, fish, dairy, and tofu. No veggies, fruits or grains.

Try replacing some of the carbs in your menu for a different low fat Protein. Instead of the wheat thins with your sandwich, you could have try serving of cottage cheese or a string cheese.< /p>

Good luck at getting your scale moving again.

Many people use www.myfitnesspal.com to track their calories. Using that site allows you to see all of your nutrients and you can see your friends' diaries. Helps keep me motivated.

You can choose to have your diary public or private.

I use it and so do so many others from here.

You can look at mine. Same user name as here.

I met with the nutritionist last week and she said to make sure to have carbs (the good kind) early in the day. For crunch during the day, she suggested having wasa crackers. For Snacks, string cheese or baby bell or a small serving of nuts.

I do 800 cals a day. Today I've had:

Breakfast: Eas chocolate fudge shake - 110 cals. 17g Protein.

Lunch: omelet with two eggs and two wedges of garlic and herb laughing cow cheese - 210 cals. 16g Protein.< /p>

Dinner: 4 oz baked pork chops with 1/2 cup mixed veggies. - 220 cals. 23g protein.

Snacks: Cheddar cheese square - 90 cals. 5g protein.

4oz Dannon carb control yogurt and 1/3 cup Kashi go lean crunch - 167 cals. 8g protein.

I stay pretty low carb and I do low cals because honestly, I don't like working out. I like walking the dog, but thats about the extent of it. I'm also in the green zone, so that makes it a lot easier.

I also stay under 1000 calories a day and have trouble some days getting to 800 with the diet my doc has me follow. This is what I ate yesterday -

Breakfast: Protein Shake

Lunch: Albacore tuna pouch mixed with 11/2 t Lite mayo

Dinner: 4oz Tilapia

2 brocolli Spears sprayed with butter

Snack: sugar free Jello

1oz turkey Jerky

I have restriction now, but I ate like this before restriction per my docs orders and guzzled lots of Water to stay full!!!!!! Also -eating large quantities was not my problem before it has always been way too many carbs which led me to taking massive amounts of insulin. And of course when you're taking that much insulin your body holds on to EVERYTHING you eat. I am now taking 1/5 the insulin pre surgery! I'm thrilled! Good luck and follow your nutritionist's directions and you'll do great! We are all different. 800 works for some 1500 works for others.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
