Trouble With Lap Band Fill?

Recommended Posts

I just had a 1/2 cc fill after only having a 1/4 cc fill a couple of months ago. I drank liquids fine yesterday. Today I have not been able to drink any liquid and continue to slim up. I'm not sure if this could be due to swelling or irritation.

Any input from anyone??????

It's probably just swelling related to the fill, but if it doesn't resolve itself in a couple days, you may need a slight unfill.

If you can't get down liquids you need to get an unfill. You will quickly become dehydrated if you don't

What Jess said. If liquids will not go down, call your doc ASAP. If you can get hydration, then you can wait a bit to see if swelling goes down.

Thanks everyone. I definitely was too full and had to end up getting the 1/2 cc completely taken back out. I don't know why I'm so sensitive but I will have to stick to 1/4 cc fills.

That is a good lesson for everyone! A 1/4 cc can make a big difference in lapband world! Best wishes for future loss. Karen

You are so right, 1/4 cc can make all the difference in the world. Before lapband, I joked about filling my band up and how I'de like the whole thing just filled to the rim...boy do I know better now. It is always best to consult your doctor with questions. I couldn't get down soft foods and some liquids for a few days after my last fill...and I am so glad it wasn't the 3 ccs I had asked the doctor for previously...more than a week later, I'm much better...I love the band!!!

I just had a 2 cc fill monday morning. By monday afternoon nothing would go down and stay down. I ended up going to er cuz dr was in surgery all day Tuesday. They took out 3 cc and I feel 100% better now but i am down to only 2.5cc left in my band. Dang it. I am going to just do .25 or.5 fills at a time now. I didnt like not being able to swallow my own spit. Slow and steady from now on. Better safe then have that horrible thing happen again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
