How long in the hospital?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious how long everyone was in the hospital after surgery? How long before you were able to resume normal activities? Thanks for you help.

I Am Only Going To Be In The Hospital For 2 Days. It Will Be Awhile. You Can Lift More Then 25 Pounds Or You Could Get Hurt. Devolope A Hernia. I Will Be Out Of Work For About 3 Weeks Or More. I Hope Not Though

I was banded on Monday, 2/6. I stayed overnight in the hosp and have been mostly couch-bound until today. I took a long walk yesterday and it really did me in. It's different with everyone, though; some people are fine the next day. I started the day before yesterday getting shoulder pain, which apparently can last a few weeks.

It also depends on what you mean by "normal" activities.

Hi,

I was operated on in the morning and left the hospital at 3 pm the next day. I was very, very tired. I got up and walked as much as I could. I slept a lot for the first couple of days and tired easily. I lived in my recliner. It was so comfortabale......

Today I am a month out and feel real good. It got better and better every day. I don't have any more pain or discomfort. I am walking 2 miles a day and doing Water aerobics three times a day.

Sometimes in the later afternoon, I get real tired, but other then that... Life is good!:)

Ouch :omg:

I didn't realize that this could be a long recovery.

Unless something goes terrably wrong, I'll have surgery at noon this coming Wed. and be home in time for my DH to prepare my liquid dinner. It's all outpatient. I plan to return to work on Tues the 21st (yes, I have a desk job). My Doc said that was pretty normal.

I hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew. (so to speak...)

Everyone is differen't. I was in for 2 nights Had it on a Monday, Saturday we had company. I didn't do anything but I was fine to sit and talk and laugh.

I took 2 weeks, but a week and a half later I was really fine.

I went in for surgery at 8:30am and was in the car on my way home by 1:30pm...(my husband driving) Surgery was on Wednesday and I was back to work by Monday...very sore but not pain...the important thing is to get up and walk..walk...walk..to avoid the pain from gas...I actually drove myself to the grocery store that Friday and shopped for over an hour...you will just move slower.

I am not banded yet, but my surgeon did say I will be in the hospital overnight, as long as there are no complications. I do know some surgeons use a day surgery center where you can go home the same day, so everyone is different and it also depends on your surgeon as well.

I was in surgery from 8am to 9am and was walking out of the hospital at 10:30am to go home. I was up and around like normal in about 2-3 days.

I went in on a Tuesday (1/31/06) and was out Wednesday afternoon. I was tired & sore on Wednesday but by Thursday I was up and walking 2 miles a day. I went back to work on Monday and was exhausted after a day of work. I skipped walking that day but have walked 2+ miles everyday since.

My surgery & recovery went well. I'm so glad I did it. Best of luck to you.

Jenn

I spent the night and came home then next morning. I went back to work in 3-4 days, but I worked half days for a couple of days. If you can take a week off, it is really the best thing to do. Good Luck!

I was in the hospital for 3 days/2 nights. I had abnormal swelling and couldnt get any liquids down, I couldnt even keep my own spit down. They wanted me on I.V. until I could sip a glass of Water and have it go down. The upside is that in spite of all that I was super quick to rebound and was feeling okay on the 4th day and back at work on the 7th day. Really the first 3-4 days are the roughest as far as having all the gas and the soreness, then you quickly feel better and better each day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
