How many CC is your Lap Band Filled until you're not hungry?

Recommended Posts

My band was empty at surgery (10cc band) on 10/10. I had my first fill yesterday (6 weeks later) and she put in 3cc's. I drank 2 sips of Water and started having pains in my chest and a threw the Water back up. She took 1cc out, leaving 2cc's. I think they start slow because each fill causes mild irritation and swelling. You don't want to just put in 5 or 6cc's right off the bat because it would probably make you sick. Some people can handle the max 3cc's on the first fill and some can't. I couldn't. I still don't have restriction and get hungry between meals, but I have to let my stomach adjust to the 3cc's first and then they can add more next month.

That was an awful feeling that I never want to feel again!!!

I just got my first fill today. I have a 14cc band that had 3cc's in it from surgery. The surgeon added 2cc's today and then I drank some Water, no problem. My next adjustment is on 1-10-12. That seems like a long time between fills.

Honestly I don't know how many cc's I have in my band. I just got my 5th fill 2 weeks ago and I can't say this is the first time I've really felt restriction. Two days after my fill I actually had a stuck episode. I guess I didn't fully chew either a piece of carrot or squash. I def get fuller quicker now. This also makes me realize how much I have been over eating and how much everyone else around me over eats. There are days I'm not even hungry but I eat because I know my body needs the calories.

I have had 2 fills I am at 7cc's now. I think with one more fill I should be in the green zone. It is frustrating after you get a fill and you don't feel any different. After my first fill I didn't feel any difference at all. With the second fill, I do feel a little more restricted but can pretty much eat anything. Stay at it, you will get there. teeth_smile.gif

I had my surgery on Oct. 3rd and I have had one fill, I am at 3.5 cc's and out of curiosity and to determine if I needed another fill I Tried Garlic bread at a friends house and I was able to eat 3 pieces after having had spaghetti sauce with meat and salad I could not believe it but I was so hungry so I kept eating it (mind you even after tracking calories I was only 200 over for the day) I could not believe I was able to eat that much with no problems so I scheduled another fill to see how it goes. Myfitnesspal.com and on my phone is my BFF right now so I can make healthy choices I love it

Same thing here! August 23, 2011 I had my surgery with 3cc's entered at time of surgery. November 9, 2011 I have a total of 6 cc's in my band and I still feel no restriction. The only time I felt restriction was when I came off my liquid diet post-op and could only eat some cream of wheat or grits and feel totally satisfied. The NP that did my recent fill said to cut down my portion sizes. Ummm that's the whole reason why I got the band in the first place, to help me eat SMALLER portions. I feel like I have this tool in me and it's not even doing the job. Frustrated! I know that this is a 10cc band in me, I feel like I'm going to actually need 10cc's to feel any restriction. sad.gif

I totally understand! you and i have the same surgery date, and i too have a ten cc band, after 4 fills i have 6.5cc's and FINALLY feel some restriction. i too was discouraged, and thought i had wasted a lot of money for the same 'ol let down, but that jump from 5.7 to 6.5cc's was just what i needed...you may be close and not even know it, i was. it went from nothing to a lot of difference pretty quickly. keep letting your dr know you're ready. i damn near had a breakdown in the office and sure enough next fill and that wonderful restriction showed up! it will for you too, promise! and then it's game on! now go tell that band "what time it is!"=)

best of luck!

I don't like comparing amounts of cc's from one person to another, everyone is different. That's why the band is adjustable.

Having said that, it took me 3 fills to get to the point where I felt the band was doing it's job. That's 3 months after surgery!

I have not had a fill since the first week of May. I am in the Green Zone, and the Dr. agrees. Said I am at the point that any future fills will be only 1/2 cc plus or minus for maintenance reasons.

But like I said, it took me 3 fills = 3 months.

Hello all I got my 4th Fill on 11/11/11 didn't feel andy different until 11/27/11 i'm very happy i see my dr again on 12/9/11 for a small fill if any

Happy Holidays to all

I have 8.5cc in my 14 cc band, that said I eat every 2 to 3 hours because I am hungry. I do though eat small meals and am doing well. I walk 6 days a week and go to curves 5 days a week. Yes having the band is a lot of work, but it is so worth the effort you have to put into it. Having had my band for 8 months (4/4/11) I am down 132 with 12 pounds to go till goal. Work with it and it will work for you!

I was banded on 5/10/11 I have had 3 fill's. In Sept it was to tight and we had to take out .50cc I couldn't even keep Water down. I think now though I could use a little my weight has stayed the same for 5wks now. :( But I do know this is s slow process for some. Starting exercising more and measuring food portions and pushing Protein and Vitamins. We will see. Have a great week everyone!

I know everyone is different I was just wondering because my band was empty and my doc put 3 cc and i don't feel the difference just wanted to know if anyone felt the same as me. I would think 3cc is a lot but maybe I am wrong I do have a 10cc band.. It was just a question if u dont want to answer that's fine!!!!!

I too have a 10 cc band. I have a lot of issues with acid reflux so I can't go too tight. But before I started getting the reflux problems I felt fantastic restriction at 6cc's. Good luck and don't give up!

had my first fill today... up until today I had noticed that as the days went on I was more full with less food. Had 3cc put in under fluroscope and I could see no Fluid passing with 4 cc in band. 1 cc removed and able to drink fluids. guess we will see what happens by next month.

I was banded on 5/6/11. I have seen my doctor 5 times and he only does .5cc per visit (in my opinion, to bill my insurance as much as he can). Needless to say, I found a new fill doctor today and after I receive my records from his office, will be moving on to someone who is going to put the band in action. My band has 2.5cc in it after 7 months. This is BS. I paid for this band to work not to get bilked for all my insurance coverage. I can understand anyone's frustration when you have NO restriction after so many months.

I currently have 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I had 3cc put in at surgery and then had to have a complete unfill because I was so swollen after surgery, I couldn't keep anything down. When I was ready to have a fill again, he put 3cc back in and I could tell a small difference, but not much. A couple weeks ago, I went back and he put in 1.5 more and I can definitely tell a difference now. I go back in about a month, but at this point, I don't think I'll get another fill. It does take a while, but it's worth it. Sure, I haven't lost weight as fast as I might have liked. I can tell you, though, that if I hadn't had the surgery, instead of having lost what I have, I would have weighed more. I have no doubt about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
