When to see the doctor today I got my first fill I am so excited at first she couldn't find the port but after a few tries she found it. My band was empty so she put 3cc hope all goes well. Wanted to know if everyones band is empty when they got their surgery.

My doctor told me that he would not put any Fluid in my band during surgery. He wants the swelling to go down and for me to heal before my first fill.

Same here. Nothing in because he said too much fat around stomach. I just got a small fill about 2CC's a few weeks back He did it early because he was going out of town. I get my second with more restriction right after Turkey Day. I can basically eat anything now but I find that I want to still stick with simple mushy stuff with some regular food. Funny I almost became a vegitarian without noticing. I eat Cream Of Wheat, eggs, Cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, Potatoes, turkey meatballs, herring, Smoke Salmon, Whitefish salad and I am actually eating a lean cuisine Chicken Parm right now. Just chew tons when eating solid stuff. I use myfitnesspal to keep track of just about everything I eat. It works great. I was told not to worrry about calories but I dont have tons of restriction to if not careful I could gain. Please keep me updated and I am so happy for you.

It's common not to put Fluid in the band during surgery, but sometimes they do. I have 2 cc's in mine from surgery, and haven't gotten a fill yet. As for why you need to be on liquids after fills, it's because it irritates your stomach and pouch and they want you to treat it almost like you were healing after the surgery, and then when the swelling goes down after a day or so, you'll be fine. It gives your body a chance to get used to the fill.

I had my first fill today 3.5 mL. I have a Realize Band which holds 11mL. I thought mine was empty but my doctor said I had 1 mL in it from surgery. I had gained two pounds since my appointment last month and my doctor could tell I was struggling emotionally by not being able to start back in to lazy eating habits. So 48 hours of liquids (liquid protein) only. I'm looking forward to the next month to see if the fill works. My goal is to go back to my next doctor's appointment on Dec. 7th with 4-6 more pounds off this body.

When was your surgery date? Mine was July 22, 2011.

I was banded one month ago today, no Fluid in band. I go Friday for my first fill. I've been losing consistently by being very careful what I eat, and how much. Even though I have non fill yet, I get uncomfortable if I eat too much.

I was also banded October 5th and I got my first fill today. I was scared to death but it was nothing. I had nothing during the surgery. I lost 14 pounds in one month. The doctor tried to put in 5cc but it was tight so he left only 4cc inside. I will be getting another fill on December14th. Hope this fill helps I had lost 16 pounds but 2 pounds came right back. So now its 14 pounds. I got my appetite back this last week.

Surgery Day I was 206

now I am 192

My goal weight is 140-150...

I got my first fill yesterday and was given 1.5 cc. However I have 2cc in total, was very surprised tolearn that I already had .5cc since surgery. Which got me to wondering how common is it to be given a small fill during surgery. Either way I'm happy because they didn't want to give me a fill since I have been loosing consistantly. I hope this fill will help increase my weight loss.

I had my first fill today! I'm so excited. I've been in banster hell since week 3 or so. Lost 23 in that time then gained 5 back. Hoping this will help this week.

I was so surprised that he gave me 5cc! I was expecting a much smaller fill. I'm a little afraid of all the pb-ing and getting stuck stuff. Guess I will take it reallllllly slow!

I had my first fill on Tuesday this week! Came out of surgery with 2cc and received an additional 1cc during my first fill. I can really tell the difference. Staying full longer and no need/urge to snack.< /p>

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
