There are a lot of things to consider when you ask why? You have to remember your body is in the healing stage and needs and that can take time. Are you getting out and exercising? How much Water are you drinking? How much Protein are you getting? How many calories are you getting in a day? Your tom will also effect weight loss. I could go on but I am sure you get the idea. Don't be hard on yourself it will happentongue.gif

You body is still healing. Its a fact that most people dont lose much in the healing stage. Its yur body being protective of the fat. However make sure you are following your Dr orders to the letter.

I have eaten (or drank) no more than 1000 -1100 calories of the "proper food groups" for the past 11 months. I write down everything that goes in my mouth. Even during the plateaus I still did the same thing... and the weight will come off eventually.

I haven't been banded yet, but I can say what has help me throught my 6 month diet is writing everything down that I eat and how many calories it is. I hold myself accountable for everything that goes in my mouth good or bad, I measure everything out before I eat it. Before I started doing that I wasn't losing very much, once I started writing it down I could tell a huge difference in the scale. Just an idea for you. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
