Can't Admit There's A Problem With My Lap Band

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a repeat. It takes a while to go through all the topics.

I was banded March 2007 and I love my band and the new life it has given me. It hasn't been easy, as someone who is a foodie but it has taught me to "taste" food. However, the restriction seems to be increasing. Currently it's that time of month and I usually am tighter but still manage to get some solid foods down. But, it's been a few days and hardly anything has stayed down. I haven't admitted this to anyone (not that too many know anyway), not even my husband even though I'm sure he's aware. I don't want to see a doctor because honestly, I don't want to lose my band. I refuse to get fat again. I'm not getting any younger and I appreciate the energy and better health that I am in now after the weight loss. I've gone back on Unjury, just for some nutrition. But have had a couple of days here and there where I've gotten lightheaded when overexerted.

I know everyone's going to say, "go to the doctor". Here's the other thing, I paid for this myself. I'm a military dependent and I'm afraid if anything is wrong, they'll just remove it and I'll get fat. I can't get to where my band doctor is (and even if I could, money's too tight to see him).

Maybe it's just because it's that time of month, multiplied because I am going through a lot of stress right now.

Stress from worrying about it could be part of the problem. Maybe your too tight?

No one can make you take it out if you don't want to, but wouldn't it be nice to know just whats going on with the band? Wait and see if it's caused from that time of the month and if things continue you should do something about it before it gets to bad.

Could be a small slip that would be corrected with an unfill? Don't let it get to the point where your only option is having the band removed.

Good Luck !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
