Body Lift Tomorrow ! Nov 1 and my B'Day

Recommended Posts

Hi all thanks for all your encouraging these last few months. Well seems like tomorrow is the day! Also My Birthday! and I am getting a bit anxious looking forward to getting this over with, know it will be hard but guess know one really knows until they go through it themselves, Like getting the band is is part of the Journey, the difference I guess is that getting banded was to help long term health and now that I am so much healthy you have to wonder if it is worth the risk.

I have talked to so many professional trying to justify this procedure and to my surprise they all were very positive. Actually the bariatric nurse who does my fills was kind of indifferent but confirmed that this my Dr. was the best. The only real negative comment was from a very obese friend. The few other friends are very supportive non of them have any weight issues but have been positive, some are Nurses and medical professionals so they have offered to help and one is going to meet and take my wife out during the surgery to help pass the time. Also as it's my B'Day friends have had us to dinner the last 3 nights! So much for the diet!

Anyway I am still looking to justify this major step and the following is a list of the people I have consulted.

Three Plastic Surgeons ( All said I would benefit also and was ready -Yes they have something to gain $)

My Primary Care Dr ( Approved of it and said this my PS was the only one he would recommend and that is was better to get the redundant skin removed now as it could pose some problems later in life)

My Psychologist (The lap-band ) Said if I don't I may be saying for the rest of my life that I should have done it. Also he has a number of clients who have done it and are all glad and I need to due it for me!)

My Trainer - Said go for it and she is very excited for me.

My pharmacist - Said do it now when your younger and healthy.

My Nutritionist - Said it was a good idea and as I was close to my goal and still not happy it would be a good idea.

My bariatric Office - Did not really have an opinion but confirmed the Dr.

So with all this said if nothing comes up between now and 7:00 I am off for my body Lift! Will keep you posted and thanks again to you all and this site for so we can have a place to discuss these things and vent our feelings.

Take Care all and talk to you later.

It may take a few days to get on the painfree side, but then you'll be so happy that you did this. The best thing is to look down and see that there isn't any excess skin hanging!

Best wishes. Keep us posted on your progress. Remember, this is major surgery so you need to rest, relax, and recuperate!

Take care.

Sue

Hi all, well It over, the surgery actually took 7 hours, it is strange looking down and not seeing your belly. the biggest problem so far is that I had a reaction to the lubricant that is put on your eyes, but the DR. Called for some drops that helped. I ended up with 6 drains and they are a hassle. The biggest thing Learned is that you really have to have someone to help you, the support garments are hard to get on and off and its really not a one person job. And it is painful getting up and down into my recliner is a challenge but getting better each day. Got on my bed this afternoon had nice nap but is was virtually impossible to get up so a Recliners a MUST. Their is a lot of discomfort from the drains, I do not feel too much from actual incisions I think I am looking good but really have not seen too much.

Will keep you advised.

Thanks Again for your support

Ross

Hi Zana

I am a bit over 6 ft, my highest weight in High School was 330, Most of my adult live I have been in the 290 - 300 range. I was 300 when I was banded and 238 when I went for the body lift. It will be interesting to see the final results. I am a bit more swollen today than yesterday but overall I think I will be pleased with the results.

That is great news that all went well for you:) Glad to hear it! Please do keep us posted. I hope you continue to heal. As for the swelling the more you do the worse it is at first and after I had a surgery requiring a large incision my dr told me my swelling was caused by overdoing it. Maybe ask your dr that?

Good Luck

Hi All, well day 3 after the body lift and chest lift! This morning was hard, and I seem to have swelled up a bit more, but overall doing ok. Sore from my stomach muscles being so tight, so getting takes a bit of time but once I am up I can stand upright within a few min. I am just now starting to feel the incisions but they are not too bad, the ones on the side of my chest hurt the most. and the site of the drains hurt a bit. They are a real pain can"t wait until they come out hopefully on Monday. Would also like to get into my bed but afraid to risk that I really don't want to take the chance to pull something.

My stomach was tighter the first day and now there is a bulge which is exactly what they said would happen with swelling so not concerned. Looking forward to seeing the results at this point it is hard to really comprehend it all as I have big PJ on and those Drains. Have not gotten on the scale either as I was told you could actually be up from the swelling. I think my chest is going to look good from what I can see so far.

The recovery is more than I thought. I had told my wife she could go back to work today but really needed her. Actually I am feeling very close to her these last few days as she milks my drains and takes the reading bring in my meds etc. This is a big change for me as I usual dont let people help me too much! The word about my Surgery has leaked out so we are now having people bring meals. Don't have too much of an appetite but have to have something before all the medications. I think I am going to be pleased with the results,

One other thing I have been working out 3 x a week for about 2 years and I know it has helped so very much. So anyone who is considering this really needs to be in fairly good shape. Well will talk to you all further later on.

Thanks

RISS

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
