Another gross PB tale

Recommended Posts

... right as it happens! I'm eating lunch at my desk and having not just the usual simple slime but what I can only call a multiple PB, which is not anything you want for Valentine's Day. I ran to close my office door and made it just in time. I thought I was already the queen of badly timed slime (see earlier posts on pulling over on eight-lane interstates), but this is a new low. Culprit? Ravioli. I took small, well-chewed bites, I swear!

Oops, gotta grab that mug again. . .

i had a nice little pb myself at the office today. some improperly chewed cabbage did me in. luckily, everyone here knows about the surgery so they don't think i'm bulimic. i feel really lucky that i don't have to hide!

Yuck. My condolences.

I've had to upchuck and spit slime into my wastebasket a time or two, and I'm in a cube with no door to shut...

;)

Talk about gross...

All it takes is ANY type of real potato for me and pb guaranteed, maybe not the next bite, but very soon to follow. Even mashed potatoes, unless they're flaked artificial taters, damn this is a smart band.

I have tried soo many times to fool it, you know a tiny bite of mashed potatoes (Country Crock) followed quickly by beef and gravy, not to be fooled, then like Zoe said, multi pb's....ERRR.

Hope you're feeling better Zoe.

OK, where's that smilie with his hands over his ears, going LA LA LA LA....lol That's what my daughter (age 23) does when mom and I start talking sex....LMAO

I'm fine now, thanks. And grateful that I'm not in a cube, for so many reasons! I hope the thread's heading is blatant enough to scare the weak of stomach away from reading this stuff. . . maybe I should start a poll on worst PB experiences.

I nearly lost it IN my son's tae kwon do class... I jumped up and ran outside, they thought I was a lunatic... made it just to the side of my car before I made my own version of ripe plums from a cannon... the skins got me, and brought up stuff I'd eaten when I was 5 I think...

I can't do any type of potato's or Pasta, not even a bite, but I can do pretty good size amounts of rice... how weird is that?

Damn I miss my PB's ;)

I would give anything to PB again...as much as I hated them when I was having one, I would give anything to have them back ;)

I miss my band!

Aww.. are you thinking of getting another band, La Madam?

I saw a study online that showed that patients that were rebanded after erosion did not re-erode.. and that was four years after they were rebanded!

The Pb got me last night on the way home from my second job. Unfortunately I was in my husband's van instead of my truck. I'm better prepared in my own vehicle, I have a little trash container with bags... Oops! His poor coffee mug! I washed it when I got home, I promise!

I don't even have a band but shudder at the memories of bad PBs. Zoe, you should carry barf bags in your lunch pail! OMG, I'm gonna make a million because I just thought of a new invention... PB Pouches. Little disposable purse size PB bags with twisties. Chaching, I'm rich!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
