Okay, so I was banded on August 22nd, 2011 and I have had no fills due to continuously losing weight. However, it is only approx. two pounds a week.....until this month....I am starving and feel like I could eat my shoe if I could figure out a way to get it past the band. I am eating about 900 calories/day....approx. 75-80g Protein and I am drinking Water or Crystal light continuously and walking 2 miles/5x week. At first I thought....PMS (you B*t*H) but I can't even blame that any longer. Do I just need a fill? I'm sooo pissed I have gained back a pound this week and it is my first gain since the band!!!! Any suggestions????

Definitely sound like you need a fill.. I was banded in August too and have been losing about 2 lbs a week. My nurse practitioner said no fill the last time, but that if I needed one before my next visit to come on in.. Make an appointment and keep up the good work. I think 2 lbs a week is fabulous!! :)

2lb a week is fantastic! But if you are exercising and are hungry, then you need to eat a bit more, plus look into getting a fill. Our bodies are like engines and need fuel to run. If we run our bodies harder, i.e. through working out, then we will need some extra fuel.

You may also like to look at myfitnesspal.com

There are a lot of bandsters on there using it to log their calories and exercise.

Good luck

First of all, great job on the weight loss! If you are hungry all the time and gaining weight, you probably need a fill. When I was first banded I drank Crystal Light quite a bit and found myself craving carbs and sugars. I cut out the Crystal Light and rarely crave those things now. I have read that artificial sweeteners will do that to you. I have no idea whether it is true or not, but cutting it out of my diet worked for me. Good luck to you on your journey :)

Sounds like you're doing great to lose two pounds a week, so maybe your body is just adjusting. I know that in my case, I have stayed at one weight for a week and then appeared to gain a pound and then dropped three. I have also had to shock my body into losing by eating more than the standard number of calories, but mainly eating more Protein. Sometimes your body thinks you've entered an ice age and are therefore starving to death. It's going to hold on to what it has. By eating a little more (as I said, in mainly protein), you can convince your body that you are, indeed, not starving and have all of the food you need. Keep us posted. Oh yeah, I am not making this up. It is paraphrased from a nutritionist I visited just recently.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
