Help Me With Mushies

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Can you help on my Puree Days? Do I stop using my Protein Shakes?

I have shopped for some items like Cream of Wheat, Cottage cheese, Potatoes, Low Fat mayo, tuna and some other. How do I know how much to eat or calories, Carbs and should I now be taking a Multi-Vitamin? Also, do I need to Puree the Cotage Cheese? Should I get 2% or Low Fat? My Dr said not to worry about calories or any of that stuff for now but I am afraid I am going to gain weight. I have my first fill on the 31st.As of now I just have like 1 cc in my band. Any help would be so awesome.

I had the same concerns. I have decided that I'd rather starve than look at or eat pureed food. That being said, I managed to continue to lose weight last weight last week eating my self pureed food. I bought meat balls and spaghetti sauce and chewed the bejesus out of them. It helped that I have switched to sea food forks to remind myself that I need to take tiny bites. Also I made a pot of chili with Beans and did the same thing as I did with the meatballs. I added extra tomatoes to the chili so I'd have plenty of liquids to make sure the chili would slide down. I ate cottage cheese without problems. I relied on refried Beans with cheese for lunch. They are very filling. I just bought a can of them, nuked a quarter cup, put some cheese and taco sauce on top and called it good. I failed at chicken salad. Less than a teaspoon caused me to be stuck for an hour. Ugly, painful situation. I'm thinking it was the white meat of the chicken. Yes, I chewed and ate very slowly. It was a no go.

I hope this helps. I am a few days a head of you. (10/03). I eat maltomeal for Breakfast. One morning I ate over medium eggs without problems. The next day, semi stuck for a few minutes. My body does best with fewer carbs so I'll be transitioning off the Cereal and other carbs soon.

Keep your shakes, Ted. They come in handy for a little extra Protein. I'm like you, trying not

to gain weight before an appointment. When you're trying to figure carbs and Protein in

packaged products, use the label. They have the amounts of most everything in the package.

If you really want to be accurate, buy a scale. Don't stress out over this period though, If you just

hold your weight steady, you've done well. It's going to be a challenging period with no

restriction. Hunger will be hard to overcome, you'll need a bit of will power.

Get as low fat cottage cheese and milk as you can. We need a little fat and a few carbohydrates

in our diet, but in this healing period try to keep them as low as you can.

Just think of the hundred pounds you'll have lost at this time next year.

i found that if you cut up chicken into really small bites and i mean small no bigger than your pinky finger nail.you will find it easier to chew up and make sure you put your fork down between bites.if you want to find some really tender chicken.my daughter works at the Walmart deli.she brings me home one of there rotisery chickens.it is so tender it almost melts in your mouth.i usally debone it and package it up and eat it over the course of a week.when i want some chicken i just warm it up.having it in small portions make sure i only eat a small amount.try it you will love it.

I did forget today to not drink with my meal so I am striking that up to old habbits. Thanks everyone. I go for my first fill on Monday! Ps I tries chicken in the blender and Yuck its sick. Im gonna try smashing meatballs tommorow! I have cream of wheat too which I loved as a kid. Cant wait for regular food.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
