Trouble with chicken?

Recommended Posts

Well it happened again %!& !! The last time I thought I would die was only a little over a week ago and I swore I would never ever let it happen again. Impossible to with all the chewing I am doing now. Wrong I did it again today. sad.gif Both times I was eating chicken. Could it be the chicken and not necessarily my eating to fast or not chewing enough? Is anyone else finding chicken hard to eat after surgery? Chicken was always a staple in my food choices. Maybe in a week or so I'll try it again and see if it happens and if it does it definitely is the chicken because it has only happened the 2 X and both was with chicken.

If you are talking about chicken breasts, yes! I can't eat chicken breasts unless they have sauce on them. They are just too dry. Turkey, neither, by the way. But, I can eat chicken thighs okay, and dark meat, just stay away from gristle and skin. You should be okay with a Tomato sauce, like chicken parm. or white sauce, though. Good luck Karen

Yes chicken is dry and can be hard to eat. As already suggested stick to the darker meat like thigh, have a sauce and also use wet rather than dry cooking methods. chicken in a casserole is far easier to eat than if it is grilled or fried.

Thanks guys ! The first time was Chinese chicken and broccoli and today it was grilled chicken in a wrap. Just ate the chicken out of the wrap so that was probably the problem. My favorite pieces of chicken are the thighs so when I try again that should be alright, right?

I have been getting stuck on chicken recently. I finally realized that the only chicken that bothers me is the chicken strips from Jack In The Box. I chew them well and take small bites. I have noticed that after I chew them a lot, there is some stringy stuff left and if nobody is around I can spit it into a napkin. Anyway, after the last one I have sworn off of Jack's chicken. I can eat chicken legs and thighs with no problems.

My worst stuck episode was on leann chin bourbon chicken. That stuff is covered in sause but it is grilled beforehand. That makes it hard, dry and charred. I have been sticking with FRESH out of the oven or crockpot chicken that is very tender and moist and things are so much better. Don't put chicken in the microwave either, that really sucks out the juice. Good luck, u will figure out what u can and can't tolerate.

I'm another who has trouble with chicken breasts without a lot of sauce. Fortunately, I like dark meat. Have you tried chicken salad? If you are too busy to make your own, Aldi's has one that tastes good, though it is high in fat.

I make chicken salad using canned chicken breast from Sam's club! Very good!

I was taken to Boston Market twice this week. I brought ton of food home, of course. Much of it will be come chicken salad or chicken Soup, but I did notice (with pleasure) that I ate small pieces of dark and white met successfully, because the meat was moist and tender. Nevertheless, I am not going to try to cook my own chicken breast for a while.

I also was unable to eat chicken. It became where it didn't matter how I prepared it, it was hard for me process. I have not eaten any meat in quite a while, but I do remember ground meats were easier.

Funny thing is I get chicken stuck too pretty much any meat actually it's pretty painful and sometimes it comes back up. I also can't eat salads the texture bothers me and I have tons of raw tuna or fish, eggs or egg salad minus the yellow. I don't eat breads or any rice anymore. It's really painful and I would rather not be in pain than eat. I can do fruits (some). I can't eat Cereal that much unless with milk but still don't eat it. Chicken though is tough I try it and the pain is tolerable if it's juicy. Anybody else having problems eating. I know a few people who did the band and are able to eat breads from sandwiches and I just can't do it. Am I alone? I did however lose 50lbs since May 25, 2013.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
