Still the fat one at the table-really?

Recommended Posts

So I am at this out of town convetion for a few days.

All the women sitting at my table seemed skinny-am I still the heaviest at my table-really?!! This time last year I was 258-and was 248 the week before surgery-now I am 207. I am wearing a size 16 (regular 16s-not plus size) and I am still the heaviest? Really?

How is it that other women stay slender and I do not?!

Is it genetics-seriously? Okay-my goal is to not be the fattest woman in any given room. Certain rooms that is true. I thought I looked really good today, before I left my daughter said I looked skinny. OK 207 isn't skinny for 5'6 but I felt good.

Do you ever look around to see if you are the heaviest? I don't want to be the fat one anymore. I

Not anymore. I look around to try and gaugebiggrin.gif who I look like size wise! I fit into 12's this week and six months ago I was a 26 so I have a hard time (even looking in a mirror ) judging my size.

Yes, I look around to see if I'm the heaviest. I usually still am, but sometimes I'm not, which is nice

You're doing a great job, and you'll be one of those skinny ladies soon!!!

I am so sorry you felt this way but trust me it wont be like that for long! You are doing great. The only advice I can give you for now is to at least acknowledge that you are not where you used to be, I wish I gave myself more credit for that during my journey.

before surgery i used to do that.... compare myself to all the other women around me. i STILL do it even though i lost 70 pounds and went from 213 to 144.

I thought I was the only one who did this!

Last year, I had quite the surprise. At back-to-school night, I was the smallest person in most of the classes. Now this says a lot more about the obesity rate in my area of the country than it does about my weight loss, but still...it felt good.

You will get there and soon!

LOL- You are SO right!! We are crazy! Today, at the same convention I realized that I was just sitting at the the wrong table! IF I was sitting at the next table over I would have been the 2nd skinniest at a table of 8!! AND at lunch time I was right in the middle with at least 4 people heavier than me-and I did notice their plates were piled high with food!

As fat as I am, I can always go to Wal Mart and see several people much worse than I. Some of that has to do with the fact that I live in Mississippi and we are the fattest state in the USA. B)

That's what I was going to say - pick your table (or room) better!

Its hard to believe in these times of huge obesity epidemics that someone only moderately obese could still be the heaviest person in the room, but I guess it happens. What can yo do really but keep going? Eventually you wont be anymore.

I have just as much trouble seeing myself as I really am at goal weight - I imagine I'm much bigger than what I am still - and I look around a room and compare too. I'm always the freaking tallest, I know that, sigh. What I woudl give to be able to wear heels and not have EVERYONE comment on my height - and I"m only 5ft 10, hardly a giant. Now it wouldnt be the case if I sat in a roomful of 25 year olds, but I'm very often the thinnest person in the room or at the table now. By mid 40's most women have pushed out a few babies and softened up a lot in preparation for middle age - certainly all my friends are carrying around a fair bit more of themselves than 20 years ago. I went back to uni at age 36 to do a teachign degree and there I was often the heaviest in the room - with a BMI in the low 20's!

OMG, I STILL look around all the time!!! I've lost 150+ pounds and I think I'm still sometimes the heaviest person in the room! When hubby and I were in Disney this summer, I was constantly looking around while we were waiting in line for rides, trying to find people who were bigger than me that fit into the rides (there was a time I didn't have a prayer of fitting into ANY ride!). It's silly, considering that I fit in every single ride with room to spare! *sigh* I think it's something I'll always do. Plus, I think I will always have a distorted image of my body because I was heavy for so long. And honey lemme tell ya, 5'6" and 207lbs is NOT fat! I don't care what the height and weight charts say! You are doing GREAT! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
