WTH? Gained 2 pounds!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. Well, I had my surgery on Friday and all went well. I've been taking it easy the last couple of days but I have been sticking to my post op diet 100%. For the heck of it, I jumped on the scale this morning. I gained 2 pounds since my pre-surgery weigh in!!!:( Did this happen to anyone else? I'm totally bummed right now!

it's totally normal. you just had a surgery and your body doesn't know what the heck just happened to it. it's going to try to hang on to that weight for a while. for the first 6 weeks, I suggest you don't even step on a scale. use that time to heal and get better. even though you might feel fine on the outside, your stomach is still getting over the trauma. don't get frustrated, the weight will come off. just give it time.

It's from the iv fluids and stuff and retaining Water. I gained 2 pds as well after surgery and then next couple of days I started losing and in 2 weeks I lost 20 pds, my 3rd week I didn't lose much just 2 pds, I sort of hit a plateu in my mushie phase, I'm back on track now, so hopefully I lose 5 pds by the next 2 weeks. Just take it slow and eat right! Tons of Protein, broths, shakes, etc. If you have gas, gas-x or tea helped me alot. Plus tons of walking around!

The first week after surgery I weighed myself every single day! And then my hubby hid the scale from me, I'm so glad cause I'm sure weight will fluctuate in those first few weeks. Especially since I was retaining Water and did not have BM's as often as I used too, all that will make u weigh more. Tell someone to hide the scale from you! You will be just fine :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
