am I only only one who gets on the scale everyday?

I get on the scale every day.... I know many people do not but here is my feeling on this matter....I didnt get on the scale for the majority of my adult life... look where it got me.

as for the mental hungries.... yes I get them too. I would bet most of us do. I still wander around the kitchen looking for something to eat even when I am really not hungry although not like I used to I will tell you. Its sheer will power which makes me not put somethng in my mouth. That and a fat picture of me posted on the fridge.

I was only banded on aug 22 first fill sep 21 and I am so fighting the mental hunger (I call it head hunger) as opposed to stomach hunger

I walk past a store and smell food then I want to eat, its late afternoon and I am tired

Someone at work is eating French fries or popcorn and it smells so good I want some

Not hungry really but all I can think about is food

Does this get better?

Was I wrong to think that eventually with the band you will just eat small healthy meals (a treat once in a blue moon) and not think about food all the time . I just want to have a normal relationship with food in the future….i hope this is possible.

In my experience the band will not make you NOT think about food. It was put on your stomach...not your brain. For me I had to mentally find every ounce of will power I had to get through the first few months until I reached my green zone and am satisifed after a small healthy meal.

You're not the only one. I've been on the scale every day for over 3 years!

Create your ticker and copy the bbcode. Then go to edit my profile and paste the code in the signature box.

i don;t mean the band will make my relationship with food normal I know the bands not in my head

I mean after months/years of normal eating with the band, will i become normal and not think about food every minute of the day

I get on the scale every day, but I don't count my weight loss until the end of the week, because I find that my weight fluctuates a little throughout the week, I just like to see what my patterns are. When I weigh at the end of the week, I weigh first thing in the morning.

As for head hunger. You bet I get it. The band doesn't take that away. It's my will power that keeps me going. I'm not at my green zone yet though. I'm late getting my first fill because I got pregnant only two months after getting my band (it was a loss), but my doctor opted not to give me a fill. Anyhoo, I'm going to be getting a fill beginning of November, we'll see how that goes!

I found several tricks that really help with the head hunger. I used to like to have something sweet after supper. I got some regular fudgecycles. They are 40 calories each. Then I also keep me some sugar free Worther's originals around. I eat them sometimes. Then I also found some sugar free watermellon and lemon flavored drops and they really help when you just want something to munch. You might also try eating sunflower seeds that you have to shell. Pickles are also really great when you want something crunchy. I keep those and olives in the refrigerator and grab me a little tiny 1/2 cup bowl if I just want to chew.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
