Advice please

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I had my surgery on February 2nd. Currently I am down 140lbs including my pre-op diet. Every day since surgery I have worked my butt off to do the best I can do. I go to the gym 4-5 days per week and then walk the other days. 2 weeks ago I had a death in the family and took it very hard. I seemed to revert back to the "old" ways of eating. That weekend I think all I did eat was chocolate chip Cookies and Cereal. Obviously it wasn't the right thing to do. I called my nurse and admitted what I was doing, and I stopped it and started back doing what I am suppose to do. I considered myself lucky when I did my weekly weigh in and my weight was the exact number it was the Friday before. Now fast forward a week, I have worked out even more, kept my calories between 1000-1200 and have cut out the carbs. I weigh in today and I have gained a pound. So for 3 weeks I weighed the exact same thing, and today I am up. Now I'm aggravated, but I have to say getting the band was the best decision I have ever made. I just need to get the scale going back down. Any advice on what to do to from here?

I don't think a pound or two means anything. You could be retaining Water. You've done amazing. AMAZING!!!!! My advice would be, keep doing what you're doing.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Keep up the good work!

I wouldn't worry about it. It could be that the Cookies and Cereal finally hit the scale, so to speak. One bad week isn't anything to beat yourself up about (especially under the circumstances)...it sounds like you have done the right thing and jumped right back into things. Keep doing what you are doing and the scale will follow.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
