First fill today, and couldn't tolerate water test.

Recommended Posts

I was filled to 3cc's in a 10cc's band during surgery, so today when I went in for my first fill the nurse said she had to take the Fluid out to make sure it was accurate and then put in the same 3 plus 1 more and had me drink some Water and it got stuck! I then had to lay down so she can remove some and I couldn't even do that without the water coming to my throat. In the end she finally took some out and said she only left about .3 in there and to go back in 2 weeks. I asked why I felt SO much tighter with just one more CC and she said it was because she had to remove it all and then replace it so it tightens the band more at first than when they just go in and add fluid. Has anyone heard of this? What if I can't ever handle more CC's? I'm worried...Oh and she also said to eat normal today, that I didn't have to go on liquids since she hardely put any in there and I can tell a difference in the amount I'm able to eat. Not sure if it's because of the tiny fill or maybe just swollen from the fill? Anyone else experience this?

Thanks!!

Personally I disagree with her food orders. Toward the end of my fills I was only getting .3 or .2 and I was still told to do liquids for one day and mushies for another.

Maybe that's why I got full so quickly today? It didn't make me feel uncomfortable though...

no, no, no. you should be on liquids the first 24 hours, soft mushies the second 24 hours, then regular food after that. she totally contradicted herself when she even told you it tightened up with the unfill/fill and then told you to eat normally. my first fill, i had the Water back up on me and had to have 1/2 cc removed and drank water again and was fine. it is amazing how such a small amount can affect you so much.

I wish I would have known! I went straight to food, which was a small amount of shredded chicken and a small amount of mashed Beans, today I made a chicken Soup w/ potatoes and squash in it. So nothing too hard, mostly mushy anyway. Next time I will know!! Thanks!!

My Doctor contradicted the PA when he gave me my food instructions. He just said that I needed to "ease into" solids again. He told me to have a protien drink that night (fill happened at 5:00pm), then start mushies for the next day. I was back on solids the second full day. His reasoning is that he didn't want to get anything stuck right after the fill due to some swelling.

The PA actually told me 2 - 2 - 2. 2days liquids, 2 days mushies, 2 days soft foods, then back on full solids.

I guess I eased into it and just listened to my body. I figured if I had any problems, I would immediately go back to liquids.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
